Check out the Buell XB9S Low page for details on the new XB9S Low. It is basically same deal as the M2 Low... modified suspension and seat for a 1.5 inch lower seat height. Except the XB9S Low's price is no higher. Available in February at your local Buell dealer.

When will they come out with the XB12S Stretched and Stroked version. Count me in then. :]

"Short people want to go fast too!"

This is what we told Erik at the 2000 BRAG Mid Atlantic Rally. They listened, first with the M2L, now with the lowered XB9S. Blast owners (face it, mostly short people, ie women) need a logical upgrade, now they have a "sporty" option to a Softail or a Hugger Sportster.

Well done Buell.

Quite a few of us are happy right where we are.

Spidey,

Some clarification please. Is the Harley rep promising big things from Harley, or big things from Buell?

Anyone hear any rumors for the big show?

Harley Reps have, traditionally, not been the BEST source of Buell product info. . . they rank right there with . . . ah, never mind :)

By the way, I think the XB9SL is a great idea and offers, perhaps more than MORE POWER, a chance to increase sales without going to far out on the limb, while buying time to make sure the 1200cc is properly wrung out prior to unveiling.

I know, I think, nearly as many "inseam challenged" folks who'd be interested in a Buell they felt comfy on as I do folks begging for horsepower that MUST come from the factory.

HP, to those who want/need it now, is easily obtainable in the aftermarket.

It'll be interesting to see how they market the XB Low.

Hopefully they won't try to feature it in a race against an elephant towing a Boeing 747. Although that would be funny, not to mention hard on the clutch.

Elvis,
That is all they said, They ment from Buell. But a Buell rep from HD knows nothing. Our rep came to our store to Train our sales people and me on all the Bikes. I had to correct him on 89% of the stuff he was telling us. After he left I told all the sales people to forget everything he said. And had to go through all the bikes again with the correct info.

Spider,
Just a thought, but I'd maybe foreward that report to the appropriate people in detail as to where he was wrong and how this can lead to bad customer service. It's better for an instructor to teach nothing than to teach something wrong.

Oh i said something about it. I got no reply. But that rep won't talk to me anymore ;) We did have a regional Training and meeting deal thing. I totally cleaned house with all the questions they asked. I had everyone from all the dealers ask if I was a tech. I laughed and said no, just a little obsesed with Buell.

So, the regional training rep has the initials of "MJ", eh? Small world.

==================================================

Yes if you are a circus midget.:D How about those of us that are larger that Erik's 5'9" frame?

I like the new lightning but its very tiny & lowering it even more will not entice those of us larger folks.

I would love to have a reputable spokesperson from Buell simply commit & say either "yes we are developing a larger bike, or No we are not, & will not".

Good thinking....see what you can get out of Chevy about the 2005 Covette as well and let me know.

Oh yeah....and while you're at it, ask about interest rates for the coming 36 months.

Thanks

Dyna, I'm not a circus midget and I'm just glad to know that maybe now I have an option to trade up not just to a Sportster. I want you to have what you need, love, and want, but right now I'm being selfish and thinking of me, me, me !!

Erik is 5'11", Dynoboy, and Shawn Higbee, who was majorly involved in the ergonomics is 6'2, I believe... The bike is small, but it fits tall riders just fine. Why the Lightning Low? Buell just happens to think that shorter riders shouldn't have to be doomed to a life of cruisers.

>>>Buell just happens to think that shorter riders shouldn't have to be doomed to a life of cruisers.

Knock, knock.....I'll agree. But from a simple business case perpsective, I think it's a fairly gifted move.

I can think (increasingly rare state of mind.. as 6 months of unemployment extracts its toll :) ) of about 7 current BLAST owners who are PERFECT "Low" buyers. I can add 4 owners, Vick among them, who are riding Monsters and lowered BMW F650's as a result of no Buell being avaiable that fit them.

It just makes sense....Buells are about REAL PEOLE having REAL FUN on REAL ROADS. To quote..."it's not personal Tom, it's just business"

The "low" market is there, it's definable, it's possible and it's smart to embrace inclusion. The "low" engineering also avoids some of the risk that Buell would do well to steer clear or, at present, associated with the major power increases the "gotta have more" proponents demand.

Most, in my opinion, are more likely to seek their "more power" solutions in the aftermarket in view of the plethora of good choices becoming available.

I, as a person who has yet to SIT on an XB, like this bike and I REALLY like the IDEA of the XB Low.

Court (who's off to lunch with an industry journalist and would die to have a Buell dealer nearby to get an XB from!)

Dyna:

I thought I had the world's largest ego and I hereby relenquish the honor to you.

REALITY CHECK: I'm betting that Erik Buell didn't loose much sleep wondering if this bike would be "acceptable" or "entice" you and I.

Does it bother you that the bras at K-Mart don't fit you?

:)
