I am thinking about getting the Satin Handle Bar Riser Tree from american sport bike. I just got my XB12R and have about 100 miles on it, but the bike causes upper back pain between the shoulder blades. It takes about 20 mile each time before I start to notice the pain. I am 5ft 8in and about 225 pounds. I was wonder if any body else had tried these to help with riding comfort and how they affected the bikes riding. I could be over reacting being that the bike is new, but I plan doing 100-300 mile days and just want to know where I should be looking to increase my riding comfort. I have already order the lower foot pegs but not sure if this will solve the problem

Thanks

Lots of things you can do to the bike ergonomically to help alleviate the situation. However, if the condition persists, the best thing you can do is develop your abdominal muscles via isometrics and use them to support your weight. Also, practice using your legs more to take some of weight off the saddle.

The combination will take a lot of strain off your back, wrists, arms and shoulders. Will also give you a knew balance point and controlling the bike will be much easier as your arms and body will be more fluid and move in concert with the bike. Hell, you will probably be shifting your weight all over the saddle.

Trust me, I have been there when I went from a cruiser to a Yamaha FJ1200 when I weighted 265. Of interest, doing this enough and you will start trimming down and perhaps even get motivated to lose weight.

I wasn't chubby, but was in my weight lifting days. Too much bulk for riding small sport bikes. Am floating around 210 for the last 15 years and riding is much more fun and my cardiologist likes it better too.

Please don't be offended, but after you try a few of the mods to your bike, you may end up with the same conclusion I did. YMMV

I started the diet the day after the first ride. Looks like I will need to do more exercise.

Thanks For the honest point of view.

I just installed one of these from American Sport Bike on my 12R. Took about 45 minutes, taking my time- very easy and straightforward. The difference (for me) is nothing short of amazing! Several years ago, I shattered my left elbow and wrist (skateboarding and mountain biking, different occasions), and the stock position KILLED my wrist after about an hour. I did 3 hours this morning in relative comfort!
Worth the $$$? Only you can say- it IS pricey... Worth the effort? Absolutely!
