last night through my own fault I did not fully extend my kickstand and by bike as if in slow motion fell over! well I picked it up and found the left side foot peg to be broken and nothing else or so I thought . This morning i went to go to work and there was a puddle of tranny fluid under the bike. I took a closer look and found a small dent and a pin hole where the fluid was leaking from . Turns out the shift lever got jamed up into the cover and made a hole. i have a ride coming up this week and boy do i feel stupid . misery loves company has this happened to anyone else?

I'm sure it has. I know that the primary covers on these bikes are very open to damage. I think that is usually one of the first things to break in a fall. Better the cover than your frame though. You should be able to find one on ebay, or maybe someone on the badweb has an extra one.

yup.. . mine shook itself off the sidestand with only a few hundred miles on the clock. overall i made out really well though, all the parts were CHEAP and no frame damage.

my shift lever did the same thing except it bent just enough to only gouge the primary, not put a hole in it. i wonder how much metal i have left though, sounds very thin. hmm.

JB weld to get it back on the road. Fix it right later. Unless something more serious is broken/bent.

Good luck,
Bill

JB Weld is the correct answer. Spray the area with electrical/fine parts cleaner, apply 4 minute JB carefully/flush, have a cold one (maybe 2) sand and paint to match the rest of primary cover. Forget buying a new one, this is fixed.
If there are pieces of the cover broken off inside you might want to drain the primary, they should come out with the fluid.
JB Weld, paint, and fluid, -$20.00
Have another cold one and admire the repair, priceless.

How's this for STOOPID?

After putting a new exhaust on my Guzzi Centauro (since sold) I returned from a test ride absolutely INTOXICATED with the loud sound the Bub BadDogs were putting out -- and it sounded even better once I pulled into the garage (echo, etc.)

So -- I revved it a few times -- smiled a stupid smile -- cut the engine -- and got off the bike -- ONLY to watch it crash to the floor and snap off the shift lever and a bar-end mirror.

So "drunk" was I with the exhaust note, I completely forgot to drop the kickstand.

See -- I'M the dumbest guy on here, so don't worry about it!

Guzz...

thanks I work on helicopters and we use a hi-temp sealent on our transmissions . I slapped some of that on the pin hole and let it dry . I went on a 50 mile shakedown ride and all is well . Although i will be carrying a spare quart of tranny fluid with me on the trip . i ordered a new cover and it was 99.84 so not toooo bad. Later
