When I asked for a quote for my new 2006 XB12R, my broker gave me $599 per year, or $179 down and $48.49 for 10 months. When they ran the vin, it went up to $179 down and $59.36 for 10 months, which = $100 increase. When asked why this was so, they replied that 1200 cc's are usually 1199cc, but the 12R is 1203cc...can you believe that !!?

Most insurance companies will show a measured increase in the policy rates based on age, bike type and cc's. Anything over 1000 cc's shows a major rise. I have found that some companies like Geico and National Dairy will treat Buells like Harley Davidson bikes and offer a less expensive rate even with the engine being a 1200 on the XB12 models. Geico has been quite fair for me so far but I have never had to place a claim yet (knock on wood) and dont have much more than policy price to judge them.

FWIW I've used both Geico and USAA and have found customer service at both to be excellent.

I saved a bunch of money by switching FROM Geico to State Farm.

I spoke with a Dairyland (Sentry) rep at the International Motorcycle Show and he told me they will be lowing their Buell rates in May. They are already pretty inexpensive, so I'm looking forward to my rate drop.

They are a good Wisconsin company too! : )

I pay a whopping $1200/ year... 25yrs. old and a horrible driving record (from when I was slightly younger).. I kick myself in the ass everyday. Actually every month when the bill comes

Well check this out. I picked up an 05 XB9SX this weekend. I already have 3 bikes covered with All-state.

04 Bigdog Mastiff
01 750 Shadow ACE Deluxe
98 Buell S3T

OK well my ADD-ON quote is $1300 a year on my current plan. Ya that for just the new CityX. I'm 34 with nothing on my record for the last 5. so even my agent tells me to call around.

So of course I call HD and they quote Dairyland at $673 a year for just the new CityX.

That's just not write I'm being quoted 2 to 4 times as much for the new CityX then a less then a year old $40K something customer.

Any of that sound right to you guys.

Larry, all I can say is give State Farm a call. I have an '05 CityX through them for $508/yr.

Its been said here before, they're consistently among the best for insurance prices on Buells (and most other bikes for that matter).

Another thing is that if you have an agent or agency that you deal with for your auto or home insurance, ask them to get you a quote for motorcycle insurance.

My Allstate agent set me up a policy with Nationwide, I'm paying $213 a year with good PL/PD/UIM/ coverage, no collision coverage.

I am 63, long time rider, clean record, no accidents and that all helps.

You might also try progressive. I'm 27 with a xb9sx and collision/comprehensive for 549/yr

I have Liberty Mutual. I pay $50 a month during riding season for full coverage and $12 a month during the winter for comp only. I'm 25 and I have no tickets or accidents on my record and I've been on street bikes since I turned 21. I did just get a ticket in my car, but apparently in Leawood Kansas (Damn Richers) if you show up to the court date and agree to be double the fine they'll drop it to a nonmoving violation.

Ya the HD insurance is just a broker and the 2nd best quote was Progressive. There where 4 quotes all togeather.

I won't do State Farm I was rear ended by one of there client's right after Thanksgiving. I still haven't completely settle everything. There dealer quoted like $1200 for the repair and they would only cut me around $900, lucky my bother in IN was able to do the repair through teh shop he works at for about $500. Worth the 2 hour drive.

Thanks for the replies. I'm also calling Gieco right now. We'll see.

I am 27 and married and pay $450 on an '06 12Ss through Geico. They still classify it as a sport bike, but it's the lowest class of sport bikes on their list, so rates are close to the standards.

I had progressive in the past and they were good too.

Progressive did the ol' bait and switch on me a few years ago, so I left and haven't looked back since. The rate went through the roof at renewal time even though I didn't have any policy changes or accidents. What a scam.

^^^Had All State do that to me hard core once too. Rate went up every 3-4 months and my agent kept telling me it was being caused by inflation. Dropped them in a year.

every state is different. so comparing bob to jim via the net is useless.

BTW- don't just renew your policy. Thinking you get a repeat customer discount. I've had progressive for my cars for over 7 years. Each year its cheaper for me to cancel the old policy and start a new policy number.

I've now got 500,000 CSL coverage on 2 new cars for less than what I paid last year for 100,000 CSL. It was cheaper to cancel the policy and get a new customer quoate.

PLAY THEM!
