I went back and read the previous posts on kickstand/sidestand issues (faulty mount, recall, etc.). I don't think anyone addressed the issue of being able to reach it comfortably. (I could be wrong.) I was trying to park the XB9 and I'm reaching for the lip on the stand to push down. Well, my pant cuff gets caught on the rearset, and dummy me almost pushes the bike over with the weight of my leg. The protrusion of the lip nestles in between the rearset and the shifter, a small space indeed. Is it a matter of adjusting the rearset back or has anyone tried replacing the kickstand with a longer one, that has the lip behind the rearset?

A new piece could be welded on easily. It is a bear sometimes.....

I have done that.....

With bad results.

She was going over and all I could do was try to lessen the blow. The peg feeler on the other side dug into my calf and left a nasty bruise(still visible almost 8 months later).

Luckily, the only real damage was a broken rider peg,
and clutch lever(just the tip).

OY! The kickstand and the (wheel) valve stem position have the most questionable locations. Would replacing the kickstand altogether work?
