Well, I got the touch up 1200' spray paint for the d&d slip on in case I needed it. Decided to blast some things on the bike with it and it turned out great and matches the bike just fine. I was going to header wrap the exhaust header, but I want something more permanent, so I was thinking of taking it off and spraying it with the same high temp paint. I know the aft header can hit over 500', which is nowhere near the limit of the high temp rating. Anyone ever try this, input? Thanks.

Not on my Buell, but on many other things that I've owned in the way past that got hot and it's useless. The paint never stays and what doesn't flake off, as only half of it flakes off, is stuck for life and looks like crap. I wouldn't put it on my Buell headers. I polished mine and they look great.

I'm with Dan on this one. I've tried high temp paint as well and know that it just doesn't work the way it should. Jet hot can coat your headers black or silver and it's permanent. Contact Al at american sportbike for a quick turn around time.

I've sprayed an old GS500E header with Rust-Oleum High Temp BBQ paint and it worked great. I don't want my Buell headers to be black. However if I did, I would have no reservations about using it again.

I used hi temp flat black on a Hard-krome 2-1 pipe on my FLHT. All I did was rough up the Chrome with 220 grit I had laying around. I did the collector and some heat shields I made to cover the joints between the muffler and headpipes. The rest was header wrapped and painted with the same paint. It held up pretty well. I'll try to post a pic. <center>

I'm pretty sure a stock GS500 header is double-walled. It's probably not getting nearly as hot as a single-wall pipe.

I've never had any luck at all getting paint to stick to exhaust headers (at least for the first foot or so coming out of the cylinderhead), no matter how carefully I prepped the surface.
