..Buell stuffed a Britten V1000 V-twin (detuned, of course) into an XB frame. Talk about a perfect marriage!
I've always loved the Brittens. They were way ahead of their times. I think they're among the best looking bikes ever built, with performance to match. Maybe Buell should leave harley and merge with what's left of the Britten company. Erik Buell and John Britten had a lot in common - visionaries who thought outside the conventional wisdom.
Imagine, a modern, liquid-cooled, 4 valve Britten V-twin in a Buell. Nice....

They are certainly kindred spirits, the biggest difference I see, and no disrespect is intended toward John Britten
here, is the fact Erik has a much better business model for his motorcycle.

Both men are/were innovators that are/were met with initial resistance by the established industry. Both men's concepts
have found their way into their biggest detractors' motorcycle designs in short order.
He who laughs last you know.

I hope Erik takes these inevitable comparisons between himself and John Britten
in the complimentary manner they are intended. No disrespect intended Erik!

I mentioned this to Erik in a conversation once, he just smiled.....
We can only imagine what could have been.
I visited the Art of the Motorcycle display in Orlando during Bikeweek. To me it was a chance to spend some more time around the Britten, thinking about this same idea.And take 100,s of pics of the bike. This exhibit was in Chicago and I saw it there too. I saw John at Daytona the year before he died and then the next year when Andrew Stroud raced the Britten, lapped the entire field except second place which was another Britten. And then wheelied the Britten around the whole track, even the banking!
At the museum right across from it was a Buell RR, kinda special I think, the two bikes in a room, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the grounds of the museum........just imagine......
