Yes, I used anti seize on the axle even on the spot where the bearings sit on it. No, it didn't prevent this. What did prevent the bearings from freezing to the axle was a little axle grease. I just put a thin coat on the bearings and used anti seize on the axle in the spots the service manual says to put it and installed it. The next time I took the axle out the wheel just slid right off with no added force needed. |

Another thing worth trying is a product called Sil-Glyde that is available in many auto part stores. It is silicone based but also has a wax or other lube in it. It is light brown color, not white like Dilectic compound. It won't melt or run at up to 400F and has a more tenacious sticking power to it. I use it for the axles, the brake caliper slider bolts, etc. It is also recommended for O-rings, weather stripping or seals, brake boots and seals, etc. A 4 oz. tube is a lifetime supply for about $5.
