My friend tracked his 907 and he frequently passed 748's and 916 genres. I guess not everyone can ride a 916 on the pace!

If you want interesting and will buy foreign then theres only 3, BMW, Duc and Moto Guzzi. I would go with the BMW. I've seen some cool modified BMW's. The boxer is a classic as the V.

The Aprilia Tuono is one fine handling and sounding motorcycle. It is considered the "Honda" of Italian motorcyles as the maintenance is on par with the jap bikes. The motor is actually made by Rotax..sweet..sweet..

The Aprilia is outside of the budget though.
A 650 Honda Hawk would be a cool v-twin as well, if you can find one.
I like the single sided swing arm, and the upgrades are well documented.
That's about the only v-twin standard/sport bike that hasn't been mentioned yet.
At least for bikes that fit the budget.

The NT650 is, quite frankly, a classic. The CL77 305 Scrambler, CB-1 and NT650 on on my Honda list of favorite bikes.

Interstingly enough, the NT650 is a very popular commuter bike here in NYC. You see many of them in conditions ranging from concours to courier (duct taped bodywork).

Court said "The NT650 is, quite frankly, a classic"

Steve says "Court, you need to go take a rest."

LOL!

FWIW...the '88 750 Paso Limited was white in color...red and blue were the "plain" ones. I purchased a blue Paso in '88 and loved it.

Rocket...I looked at some sales info from '88 and could not find any specs that differed, besides paint, from the red/blue Paso or the Limited. I thought the Limited had a stronger motor...can't confirm.
I do recall riding my BLUE Paso with a friend on his RED Paso to MCC in Lombard, Il for a Sunday ride in 1988 and meeting up with a group of Duc riders that included three other Paso's. All of which were the WHITE "Limited's" (Yes, blue looks best!)

the duc. PASO was designed by the same guy that designed BIMOTAs (tamburini i think!)anyway typically italian--- the paso LTD.had low production #s i've heard anywhere from 50 to 200 LTD.s produced depends on who you ask! the LTD.s came in various states of tune-- anywhere from full blueprinted motor, lighter flywheel, factory race mufflers, carb.jetting, and OHLINs shock! i have seen LTDs with no more than than just the color being different !(white body -red wheels) the first part of the LTD "run" got all the "goodies" and as the factorie ran out of "goodies" the bikes became less & less "limited".

I've got an '88 Paso Limited (white). The only difference -- aside from the paint -- was that the Limited shipped with a second "race" exhaust. Mine has the 2 into 1 Conti and sounds SICK!

Great, undervalued motorcycles -- way less maintenance than the 4-valvers -- and great for 2-up riding.

Check out ducatipaso.org for more. And, yes, the bike was designed by Massimo Tamburini, who later penned the 916 and, more recently, the MV Agusta F1.

And, oh -- the Hawk 650 was a parallel twin, wasn't it?

Great bike...

Stand corrected. All I remember is that when a friend of mine got one he would consistently smoke me on the "trick" Guzzi V50III I was running in the early nineties.

Also, the addition of a Two Brothers Racing pipe had that thing sounding as good as most Ducatis. Clip-ons were a nice addition, too.

Sadly, the bike was stolen in the mid 90's.
