The awful clanking noise coming out of my engine was my primary sprocket nut backing off. Dealer fixed it in an hour under warranty. I thought I was loosing a crank pin. What a relief.

When did this new torque spec come out? I have an 05xb12s is it affected by this change? Also is this new spec like a recall where the dealer does it under warranty if I request?
Thanks

I didn't know about the new torque spec until several hours after I had the bike back home. I don't know if they used it or not but if it happens again, I'll know.

I had a buddy listen to it a few days ago. He made a face like a three year old biting into a dill pickle. Scary noise.

It is a horrible noise, makes you think you have a big $$$ repair job ahead of you.

Which you will, if you don't fix it promptly.

Used to be 190Ft-lbs, now its 240 ft-lbs.

Is this new torque spec something that should be checked on all nex buells? Do you think the dealer will cover it under warranty?

happened to my 05 12S too. i was far, far away from home. nervous as hell what was going on inside my motor. dealer used new torque spec and loctite.

when the motor is really cold i can just barely hear some new sound after that incident but then goes away once hot. praying i never hear that knock again but at least i know what it is now : )

Saved? With them? Hell, they wanted to get me up the rear without a reach around. Forget them.
