Or does anyone else smell horrible from the crotch down with bike fumes after a moderate ride. I dress business casual at work and it has taken all of the fun out of riding the bike to work. I don't want my slacks smelling like bike fumes. What causes this? Is it because the bike is so raucous?

I ride 20-25 mins each way every day, and don't seem to have the problem. If I put my foot in front of the exhaust outlet then my foot will smell like exhaust (surprise!) but otherwise no.

I have noticed that my garage will fill with exhaust smell after I park. Even if I cut the engine and coast in the last 50 feet, leaving the bike in the garage and closing the door will result in horrible exhaust smell in the garage about 15 minutes later. Niether of SUVs does this with bigger engines and bigger mufflers. What up?

I have a race kit muffler on it that does not blow directly on either of my legs at a stop. I wonder if there is an exhaust leak?

I like that that gas/exhaust/oil/dirt/outdoor smell, myself. Really, I do have that smell as well sometimes. I wear my leathers/boots when I ride (always) to work but change into my scrubs/shoes/lab coat when I get there.

My wife complains about it. I can hardly smell it, but she smells it as soon as I come home from a ride. With the stock pipe, it kicks the exhaust right on to your foot and ankle. There are times that I just cannot have my foot forward enough to avoid it too. I would rather smell like exhuast then drop the bike. I am hoping with having the muffler "drummerized" will help. It appears that the outlets are pointed more back than straight to the sides.

mmm, i'm with BS on this one.. . love the stink. it's like aromatherapy ;)

reminds me of a funny story actually, i worked for a company whos employees always warned me of the CEO. he was getting pretty old, set in his ways, had attitude, women on the side, etc. well, long story short, our first meeting, i was nervous as hell, the guy came in REEKING of exhaust fumes. i calmed down a bit... he's gotta be some kind of motorhead... come to find out he was an avid biker who rode his early 70s Beemer (all black) like year 'round. needless to say we hit it off just fine. (now that i think of it, that situation has happened twice at two different gigs)

i also used to love the smell of certain 2-stroke oils back in my hare-scramble days

Rice: missed that smell this winter. First year in Phoenix away from Wisconsin, and I forgot how great that smell was until I was back in December.

Wear leathers! You should be anyways! Carry your work clothes in a tank bag or back-pack! Voila! No more stinky work clothes...and, should you fall off the bike, you will still have all your skin...

I'm sorry, but I think it's sexy when a guy smells like bike exhaust...

Ron Burgundy: It's quite pungent. It's a formidable scent.
Brian Fantana: [holding the bottle of Sex Panther] They've done studies you know- 60% of the time, it works every time.

I get grief from the lady too after a ride. I have found that if I don't put my left foot down when stopped at a light, my left leg doesn't get the fumes (as the stock exhaust exits the left side). If you like to sit up at intersections in neutral though, you won't have any brake lights on. Could be sketchy.
