How much oil does it take and can anybody give me any tips to use when doing it??   Dtx Posted on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 08:35 pm:        You can do it at your 1000 service and it takes 1 quart. Drain it all out while on the jiffy stand, but fill it up with a 2x4 under the jiffy stand. It will make the bike "close" to level...so be careful. The owners manual has a great description of how to change this fluid. Check the chain while your at it.   Donutclub Posted on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 08:59 pm:        Don't be surprised by the foul smell of the Mobil 1 gear oil. I stopped using it because it was stinking me out of the garage when I changed the oil.
