m2nc, I was referring only to the seating on the bikes. The desire for passenger comfort was mentioned.

My personal choice at least started as an XB9R.

I test rode a 12R at last year's Biketoberfest. I was so impressed I went out and started looking for my own to buy. I found an '03 9R w/ race kit for sale locally, and bought it. It was a lot cheaper than any used 12Rs I had found (I always buy my vehicles used). With the race kit, it is damn loud for sure, next to a stock 9R.
Since I haven't ridden a stock 9R, I can't make a comparison for you. But even with the race kit, I think the 12R has more lower end grunt. However, with a race kit the 9R is plenty fast.
If you're coming from an inline-4, be careful of the low end torque you get from a Buell. It's a whole new way to ride. The first time I gunned it coming out of a turn, I shot forward so fast it startled me!

the wife has ridden on the back of a jixer and she was ok untill i hit 100, and got low in a turn and she sat up and we almost hit another car. we have sat on a firebolt and she like the sitting position on that one better than the jixer. she is almost exited about getting a bike as i am. she even told me i could sell her car for one.

Stock 9R is pretty badly restricted. Dunno why. But I rode a 12R, 9R Stock and 9R Kitted and the 9R Kitted was alot easy to thrash then the other two. Sounds better, felt like it was going harder. So I bought one. End of the day I got a 9R kitted for about a grand less than a stock 12R. Over the two years I've also saved an extra $2K in insurance. 100hp seem to be the power that scares the insurance companies into the next range.

The XB9 can become a 1050 with a REV PERF bolt on kit @ 102 RWHP or a 1208 with a REV PERF big bore kit (Case Boring Required. estimated @ 120 RWHP

The XB12 can become a 1250 with a REV PERF bolt on kit Estimated @ 110 RWHP or a 1500 (90 cid) with a REV PERF big bore kit (Case Boring Required. estimated @ 125 RWHP

RWHP actual or estimated is with REV PERF Stage 3 heads and RS 585-V2 cams. I am in the process of building a 1208 XB9 track bike for a customer at present. ... Terry

I'd rather race a $10K Buell than a $3K Suzuki any day! How fun is it showing up with a bike just like three dozen other racers anyway? Better than nothing, but not as good as having something really special.

Living well is... good. : D

I'm cutting and pasting this thread and sending it, as a gift, to my 4 pals who bought the first 4 MV Agusta F4SSerie Oro editions. . . . they love "more is better" stories. Phil just popped for a new car last April, claiming he was just "spending his tax refund".

He loves this kind of story and of all the bikes he owns, he's never had an SV.

: )
