Guys: I apologize if this was stated in a thread already, but following the couple of tangential discussions regarding your re-mapping exercise I am confused. If I wanted to take my 2003 XB9 with the race ECM and 12 airbox (with race kit filter) to hit the 91-93 RWHP you mention, what besides the DL re-flash do I need? From what I can tell, I *think* it required the Micron exhaust (with headers) and the American Sport Bike open airbox? Is that it? How much for the whole kit and kaboodle? Thanks, Chris |

I have not done a very good job explaining how all this works, so let me give it another shot. It's your bikes configuration that makes the HP and TQ numbers. 88 inch HD with Pipe #1 A/C #1 will = X HP 88 inch HD with Pipe #2 A/C #1 will = W HP 95 inch HD with Pipe #1 A/C #1 will = Z HP In the Past DynoJet has a sold a device called a Power Commander and that has allowed us to tune for these different configurations. PC are no longer produced for Buells and were hard to tune, so we now have Direct Link. Just like the H-D's, these different Buell's Configurations need to be tuned to get the best ride ability and performance. That is all we are doing, so since the Race ECM is designed for the Race slip-on and A/C when used with other configurations it has "Lean Spots" as well as "Rich Spots" in the Fuel Tables. As a Rule when we straighten the fuel curve and have good transitions between throttle positions / and RPM the performance numbers improve. I am not too sure I have done this any better this time, but I think at the end of the Great Exhaust Shoot-out a lot more will see how it works The answer to your question is yes you would need to have the same configuration we had. You have a Race ECM we can re-program, you also have the Race Filter, but we used the K&N, and you will need the Open Airbox Kit and the Micron exhaust so contact AL for a price on what you need for the package. ... Thanks Terry. I recognize the fact that I won't achieve the exact numbers; what I did a bad job of ultimately asking is what combination I need to match what you tuned against. Now I know. I will spend more of my 401K with Al now. Thanks, Chris |

Chris, I think your question has been answered with regard to exhaust and airbox. It isn't to say you couldn't get there with other combinations, but at this point, we have a map for that specific combination, so it's pretty much plug and play. On the DL side, there are a couple options. You have to buy a key, there is no way around that. You don't NEED to buy the DL software, you can just send me your ECM and I can poke the appropriate map into it. If you don't already have VDSTS, then buying the DL SW for $99 as well is the cheapest way to get TPS and AFV reset capability at home (assuming you have a PC). In the near future I hope to have a core program in place that will let me send you a mapped ECM prior to getting yours. But heck, you're in the frigid northlands now, you could probably take your bike down for a couple weeks. Also, it doesn't seem to matter if we start with a race or stock ECM, so if you're running a race ECM on the bike now, send me your stock ECM and I'll push the map into that one. Al |

Al, this brings up a good question. Is there a version of the Direct Link that can be loaded on a Pocket PC like the VDSTS? |

Thanks, Al. I already have the VDSTS, also. You're right about the frozen tundra...at this point I can definitely take it down for weeks I'll pop you an email for pricing specifics. Thanks, Chris |
