I've been searching and only found a few things on this. Drilling holes or cutting the airbox for a 12 (2004 model), any downside to this? Also, if that is all you wanted to do, you wouldn't "need" to do anything else would you?

The only potential down sides to drilling your air box is increased intake noise, and making
your bike possibly run a little leaner, though that shouldn't be a problem with the race ecm.

If that is the only thing you do to your bike you should be fine. However, be aware the bikes
do tend to run a little lean from the factory because of EPA mandates. Some people have done
it with no issues with the stock ECM so it's up to you.
