So I ordered the translucent amber heel guards, to match the supposedly translucent amber wheels. What gives?

Who did you order through? Most of the sponsors here would probably make it right for you.
I've heard/seen them take losses in the name of customer satisfaction.

I hope this can be fixed because you're right those don't match. IIRC Buell had a lot of
hassles getting consistent color on the amber wheels, but I could be wrong

I got them through the local HD shop. Might have to take it out there and show 'em.

My amber shift levers I got for Christmas didnt match each other, I wasnt happy with them either, It has taken 2 months and not got em replaced yet, the factory definetly lacks in quality control when it comes to these types of items.

I'm sorry to say but I chuckled a bit on that. I have to agree. WTF? Those look like they would make the ULY orange well though.

Wasn't happy with the buell saddlebags for the xb12r come to think of it. Had to bring them back because of size and material quality. Fit was great but quality was lacking. Opted for the cortech bags instead.

Cyg,

I would take them back, and send those pictures to Erik himself, I would bet that things would be corrected.

I wish 'ol Eric would read these, or be able to send the factory some pics, but they would be overwhelmed by stupid complaints all day, I noticed they dont have any sorta contact info on their site.

I bought the polished aluminum heel and upper and lower belt guards as well as the swing arm brace thingy and they all look and work great although Im sure the stock plastic is more durable. I saw the lever set at the dealer in that translucent "non matching" orange and passed on those because of that too.

I wonder if they didn't send you the ones for the 06 reddish/orange color. I think they look really close to the new red rim color. I would check the part number out, it is possible they are not the amber ones.

Just a question. Why do you feel the need to take Buell (or any Mfr for that matter - I speak not just to you, and not atagonisticly, honest) to task in a worldwide forum before seeking a resolution directly with the source? Someone deserves an opportunity to attempt to make things right for you before you go to the mountain top...

Dave:

Sage advise from your fellow Buellers. Based on teh fact that the ones posted above look like a perfect match, I'm betting yours are just wrong.

Erik is not directly involved, in a day to day sense, with parts and accesories other than a mandate that it be done right.

Visit with the customer service folks and my bet is you can have this resolved in 24-72 hours. Buell has gained a reputation as being unequalled in the field of custoemr service and response.

Any problems, drop me an note with your contact info, dealers contact info, pictures, explanationism and I'd be pleased to help. I've got a pretty good track record. : )

Court

P.S. - I may even deliver the new ones personally. . . you neighborhood is one of my favorite places to ride. . . I've done two ten day stints there for Buell.

Well, you were right. . . he hit the ceiling.

: )

The solution is as easy as 1-2-3.

  • 1.) Starting Wednesday there will be an "in residence" Elf at the manufacturer. QA/QC color compliance will no longer be done by the vendor, but by an Elf.
  • 2.) Units in stock at the Franklin, WI supply facility will be returned, checked for compliance and culled as necessary.
  • 3.) Dealers will be polled to see who has the offending units in stock. Dealers who have them will receive a bulletin showing RIGHT & WRONG with instructions to immediately return WRONG to be replaced with proper units.

How's that for customer service?

Dave, please e-mail me your contact info, dealer and VIN so we can make sure your's get replaced first.

Hats off to the folks at BUELL MOTORCYCLE COMPANY for responding damn near faster than a speeding bullet!

>>>Should I got through DaveS to get them straightened out.

Give Daves a day to catch up and contact him. I'll have all the info to him by then. It will be no problem.

By the way, The Godfather is so good at what he does, I am hoping he doesn't find out about this until after Daytona.

: )

For those of you who know Erik Buell he is deadly serious about a number of things. Good for us, as owners, is that two of them happen to be great service and integrity and another is delegation. The Elves pull this kinda thing off effortlessly. I've been saying it for years. . . these guys are good. . . VERY GOOD.

Hey thanks Court!

I know in my biz, I'm really bugged when someone calls to complain about a $40 item, and wastes ½ hour of my time. So I didnt feel like bugging the Company about my lame little deal.

But heres the only option I seen on the site as well as the latest catalog.
http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes_gear/accessories/Product.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductL ineID=2&CategoryID=6&ProductID=3158

Also the Zion Harley dealer has exceeded my expectations in customer service. So I hate to bug them as well, however they wont/cant/dont care to/, get the cool folding hat! Now if you could hook me up with that, I'd set ya up in a nice B&B on your next trip here, and we'll cruise through So. Utahs scenic backroads.

Hope they're this good with handling my saddle bags I just dropped off at the dealer today. I called customer service and the worker was very good with me and opened a file and gave me a ref. number to give to the dealer. He told me to tell the dealer to call tech support and give them that number and they would see what they could do. Either by giving me a good will replacement or repairing it. I'm hoping this goes well. This will be my first dealing with customer service and so far it's been good.

The saddle bag problem is one of the bags zippers stopped working. Wouldn't zip at all.

Cygnus,
Maybe you could do a Utah "Badness" ride this Spring!
I'm up in SLC and want to do some So. Utah riding this year. (maybe Littlebuggles does too)
Great response to your original complaint and it helps every Bueller who will buy that accessory in the future.

Wow, that's really nice to know that about the Buell company. I've never been a consumer to be "branded" as they say in the advertising world. That is, I've never had loyalty to only one manufacturer in any field, but I'm quickly becoming a Buell devotee.

The Force is strong young Jedi.

Let's cut to the heart of the matter, don't you want to be associated with folks as passionate about motorcycles as you are?

Buell will never make riding mowers and will always be looking for better ways, innovative and creative ways, to make certain you have one darn impressive ownership experience.

I purchased a set for my XB too. Upon first look the color did seem a bit off, but of course, I had to try them on the bike to be sure. After an hour of swapping, yup they look like $hit and quickly came off! Definately a better match for the Uly - oh well - live and learn. The dealer took them back...store credit only which I had no problems spending : )
