I now understand why Rossi not only wanted to beat his previous Bike sponser, but also to rub their noses in it. |

all this because of a poorly worded press release. AMA seems to have no problems with the bike and anybody with working eyeballs can see it's an XB plain and simple. Time for everyone to GO BIG or GO HOME. We see which path Tojo took. Just like WW2. |

I had some bad experiences with Honda when I worked for Kawasaki. Got stabbed in the back on some industry negotiations. They were a very arrogant culture. I find the XBRR debate interesting. The Japanese spend a hell of a lot of money retooling their engines every couple of years to be competitive. They compete against each other, following the same rules, and it is fierce. The Buell is an anomoly for them, and their 100% efforts to compete with each other's 600s may be for naught. Pretty ironic, but it's too late to do anything about it this year. Buell was careful to follow the rules, from what I can tell. The other manufacturers really will have no case unless Buell is consistently winning. Then it will just be a case of scaling back the handicaps, like WSBK did with Ducati over a number of years in the 1990s. |

Honda's been cherry picking for decades, guys -- in 4-wheel racing and two -- nothing new here at all -- I'll betcha a frosty beverage their withdrawl from the board was planned before Buell entered (and passed tech) -- they have a history of entering, winning, dominating, and withdrawing from competition, only to re-enter when they believe it'll do em some good good in the market place -- Friends that road race tell me of Honda's shenanigans constantly -- cut throat in racing as well as in the market place -- too bad, sez me, they can certainly afford to act in a gentlemanly manner (let's not forget that XR750s dominate the Mile not due to an innate superiority of the design, but, rather, very specific rules making and decades of development -- this kinda thing isn't new, sadly, and won't stop anytime soon) as for a secularist culture war . . . . . that's a bit too close to arguing religion and politics for me, so I'll (surpirsingly) not rise to the bait |
