Okay, so i am thinking.

Would this be an okay set up and get good results on my XB9?

Force Pipe, Race ECM, K&N Filter, 12 Lid. Is there anything else I should include? or would the be it?

What would you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance!

You might run lean with just the race ecm and the force pipe.

I've seen it reccomended several times that a tfi or power commander be used with the force pipe.

Looks good. Although being you have the City X you already have the 12 lid. I would look into American Sport Bike's open airbox kit and get the catch can to go along with it.

To the above post. Nooo.. He doesn't have enough mods to justify the TFI. The Race ECM will be just fine for what he listed. I currently run the Drummer, Race ECM, K&N with the open airbox kit from American Sport Bike and catch can. No lean issues here.

Cataract: With your setup, are you satisfied? How so you like the "Drummer"? I listened to that "Force Pipe" and I almost blew a wad. I have not heard a sound clip from the Drummer yet. And is there any performance difference between the 2?

the force pipe has different flow characteristics than your drummer catarct2,
then again, most people running the the force do have pretty extensive mods to their motors.
I can't recall hearing of one on a stock 9 motor before now.
I would recommend checking your the air:fuel in any case, preferably on a dyno.

The force is generally considered to be a "top end" pipe. It will show big numbers on top.
The drummer carries more midrange and is probably a better real world pipe than the force.

So a midrange pipe would be better, I mean since I am in town most of the time.
So, would the Drummer SS or Drummer be the better way to go.
I dont' have anyone around here to fine tune, unless, unless I go to Waterloo so DaveS can do it, or Take it to No_Rice in Ames.

the city x comes with the 12 style lid? that i didnt realize. hmm i learn something new everyday on here.

misato's is a pretty much stock 9s with the force on isnt it? and from all i have ever heard the force sounds awesome, but the fueling is a nightmare to get set up right. think almost all i have heard of ended up needing a tuner and dyno time to get it close to right. thats what i would love as far as sound, but seems like to many problems.

no personal experiance with the drummer or spcl ops, but they are both said to be great midrange pipes. heard alot of good things.

ud have to go to appleton wi for dave,s and craig is in waterloo, and then theres me starting in ames tomorrow morning with all my fun videos to watch and testing stuff to do.

Drummer is the ticket for the street, works great with the race ecm.
It probably goes without saying, but I assume that you have removed the "snorkle" from the intake, right?

Dm, I originally had the Race pipe on my bike. I found that I had a good top end the mid range was a bit laggy. When I put the Drummer on it cleared up the mid range enough to be noticable.

The reason why I say don't mess with the TFI for the mods you listed is because it would not benefit you. The Race ECM can accomidate for those mods well enough. Now, if you were to change the heads out or go farther than that I would say go for the TFI and dyno time.

The Force is a mid range pipe. It completely sacrifices (and I mean loses, drops, sacrifices, throws out the door and sweeps under the rug) the bottom end for gains in the mid-range and it's pretty respectable at the top. There is NO power below 3K RPM though. JUST enough to GET to 3K as it were, and that's with a dyno tune on a PCIII.

It REQUIRES at least a PCIII or preferably a direct link just so you don't have a "middle man" so to speak.

My Force pipe has more power at 3500 than any other pipe I've looked at. My drummer beats it on top and MURDERS it on the bottom. One caveat though... That run was with the Drummer on the Force header. It should work better on the stock header (and I'll be swapping to the stock header this weekend, then I'll go get both mufflers dyno tuned again but with the stock header). I have a feeling that the Force "muffler" on a stock header will work well for a race pipe, but I'm very interested in seeing how the Drummer stacks up.

In any case... The Force pipe sounds GREAT and works well from 3K on up, but you NEED a PCIII (TFI won't work, you need to remove a lot of fuell at 2K and 2500) and dyno time to tune it. If you have a 12, a cut airbox, a race ECM, a PCIII and a race filter I will give you my map though...

That sounds about right but the post asked about the Force pipe. I took that to mean the whole system. In any case... I don't think you should be running a Force "muffler" with no tuning.

Okay so if I go with a Drummer, K&N, and Race ECM, do I need to chop my airbox and snorkel? DaveS said I didn't really need to. Is this true?

You can generally trust Dave S. I would remove the snorkel anyway though, because it sounds cooler. I'd also chop the airbox for the same reason.

You don't have to chop the Airbox. I would be fine without doing that. I just did it to open it up a bit, plus I have the City X and chopping the airbox allows me to shop off the air filter.

Kmfw160, they are referring to a common mod. You use a hole saw, dremel, rotozip, etc...
to cut holes in your inner air box to allow more air into your filter.
If you do a search for air box, XB in the Knowledge vault you should find plenty of pics
and info.

BTW, welcome to badweb!

Hi guys,

I have bought Misato's Gen I Force headers and muffler a year ago.

Running it on a XB9R, with K&N and race ecm, 12 lid. To get to 3200 is pretty sh*t full throttle, after that it's a BIG BANG!

Here in the Netherlands they are really strict in exhaust noise reduction, but never caught till now.. ;)
