I have a 9S and am planning on buying a new front tire soon. Either a Michelin pilot road or pilot power. I ride to work in the warm months and go find twisties on the weekends, no track days. Does the pilot road last a good deal longer? What about the traction sacrifice with the road vs the power? Thanks for your comments. | ||

What's on the rear ? I'd give the Pilot Road a miss unless wet-weather grip, mileage and purchase price are your #1 priorites and consider the Pilot Sport which is Michelin's recommendation if you're not into track days. FWIW I'm running Pilot Power F+R and they are sensational on my Firebolt - fit, forget, go ride. (Message edited by 12r on February 08, 2006) | ||

I used to run the Pilot Roads on my M2. They were plenty sticky and lasted a long time. I'm actually considering putting them on my Uly when the stock Dunlops are worn out. | ||

I bought the Conti Sport Attacks and LOVE THEM! I had been running Battleaxe bt14's and they were nice but the Conti's seem super sweet to me and they are seeming to last better. I go through tires like water. Every two months in the warm months every four in the winter. They were also less than $200.00 incl. shipping. BTW unless you are a cruiser I recommend changing both tires at the same time. I sell my front takeoffs to the stunters for 40 bones as there is always a ton of center left. | ||

i've got the pilot roads f+r and they're great. you will get better mileage out of the roads compared to stock dunlop and the powers, but the powers will be stickier than the roads. so you just have to decide which is more important to you. i want to say that you should still get a little better mileage out of the powers than the stock dunlops, but don't quote me on that. | ||

....very satisfied with Pilot Roads. I ride a 1150RT (some day an Ss) back and forth to work mainly; not an incredibly aggressive rider and have had them for approx. 9000mi. They will need to be changed soon. They are a good muti-purpose tire; rain, twisties, mileage! ps badweatherbikers.com is an excellent site, it's like the tires, it's got it all...drama, loyalty, enthusiasm and information. | ||

I got the Pilot Power Roads. $255(includes shipping)on eBay for both tires with stickers and nipples on them. Nice, Sticky, and Aggressive. I likey. | ||

i've put a whole 60 miles on my powers and they seem better.not to hi jack the thread but the tire says to run 42 psi this seems a little high compared to the 36 in the dunlops. what are you all running in them? | ||

Have you considered the Metz Z6? It's got the most grip of any sport touring tire that I have tried (I have not tried the Conti Road Attack). The z6 has more grip than the Pilot Road. The Pilot Road will last a little longer than the Z6. From an old post... Metz Z6's are great tires. They are sport touring tires, and easily outhandle the stock 207's that came on my XB9S. Z6's have a much quicker turn in with good high speed stability...and they last MUCH longer. One note about the Z6 rear, it has a slightly taller profile than the 207, you may need to decrease rear preload by 1 click, to compensate. This is what I have seen: 207 rear 2,700 miles (500 easy breakin miles) 207 front 4,500 miles 1st Z6 rear 5,000 2nd Z6 rear 4,000 so far, probably another 1,500 remaining Z6 front 7,500 so far, probably another 3000 remaining. |
