My New XB12S was delivered today, I am so excited. Of course it is 28 and Snowing out right now so no riding. Also almost had a heart attack. Got the quotes back from my existing (now former) insurance company and they wanted $2500/yr to insure the XB12S and 98 Suzuki Cruiser. After calling HD Insurance it was dropped to a more reasonable $390/yr.

Now just cant wait for all the toys I ordered for it to show up.

There is a bright spot, the sledding is awesome here

I know what you mean I bought my Buell in the early winter and never got to take it for a ride till spring.

I am not all that worried about the cold. I have ridden home a couple times when it was < 30 out. Cold I can deal with. New Bike, New Tires, and snow/ice on the road are more what I don't want to deal with.

Alas the snow hasn't been great here so now sledding or skiing. I figured since I got a new bike it would make the skiing better, so far no such luck.

Man I feel for you. I couldnt imagine what a tease that would be. I know I would be out there firing her up and listening to her atleast idle quite often. So no shame in doing that my friend if you cant ride her.

I guess being in the south does have a couple advantages.

gives you time in the garage to just admire it

and make silly noises as you pretend to ride.

I know what your going through I pick my xb12R up in 11 days and Its febuary in Wyoming so I will get to put alot of garage miles on it. So unless Buell offers tire chains and a snow plow option I won't get to ride mine either. The insurance thing is crazy though I though a buell would cost me alot less to insure than a full blown 4 cylinder crotch rocket but my insurace on the 12r is still $1100 a year. I'm 23 and have a couple of ticket but thats still ridiculous.

I got my XBScg for Christmas, rode it home in the cold, laid it down already. I guess you could say it's "broken" in.

age driving record, and most importantly displacement are what they look at. they
classify the xb9 as sub liter class, but the 12 is open class and for that you pay!
The people writing the rate charts don't know a hayabusa from a thruxton. they only look at CCs.
That of course flys in the face of the fact that 600 class bikes are the most commonly wrecked
bikes, and are ridden by novices. so what the engine is smaller, thus: lower rates.

ah well. As if it's news to anyone that insurance is a HUGE racket.

Well my $390 includes full coverage on 2 motorcycles, the xb12s and my 98 Suzuki marauder, which I am not allowed to get rid of, only trade in for something more comfortable per my wife who wouldn't ride my SV, and has already told me to remove the passenger pegs on the Lightning). So I was pretty happy, got discounts for MSF Course, BRAG, Multibike, and being 29, Married, Good Credit, no accidents, and living in the middle of nowhere : )

yeags. I will look when I get home. It was the number listed in my Welcome to BRAG book. Check out here, basically the same stuff as in the BRAG manual

http://www.buell.com/en_us/brag/benefits/hitthethrottle_insurance.asp

I have full coverage and full year, they give you the winter discount since most of us don't right much over the winter.

Let see, American Sport Bike version of the Corbin gunfighter seat, Bar-end mirror adaptors (i had crgs From the SV), Frame Pucks, Rear Swing Arm Sliders, Clear Tail Light cover, and a GPS. Once I ride it for a bit I will look into changing the pipe, etc, and removing the strainer etc.. My wife was an accountant in a former life. Last time I went to get a new bike i was threatened divorce, this year she wrote the down payment check for me : ) So I don't want to push it.

yeags, I know plenty of twisty roads, Plenty of roads that are like roller coasters. Lots of great roads where you don't have to worry about the cars (but the bears and or moose can be a little scary). Also a bunch of fun ways to get down to Dutchess and Orange that don't involve too many highways.
