I keep reading that $500 is the usual fee to ship a bike cross country but I haven't found a service yet that would be that cheap. Anybody have any experience with such a move? I'm considering a used bike that's in Florida but I'm in L.A. If I could find a decent price it might make it worth the money. | ||

I shipped mine from Georgia to Idaho through JCmotors and it was around six hundred. They did a good job, great service. | ||

I recently shipped an xb12s from atlanta to Chico, CA, with Allied Van Lines, on a pallat. 860$ including insurance shop to shop (residence to residence 150$ more). picked up in 2 days and delivered in 10 days. That was about the going rate to go across that many states or "zones". I origionaly paid another company about 700$ for the same route, but after a month they never picked up the bike, and I had to wait to get refunded the money. Randy V. | ||

$550 was the best price i could find, with 2-3 week delivery from NH to FL last year. i called local H-D dealerships and asked them if there were groups of bikes going down to bike week to get vendor names. i ended up going with a local MA based company. on the way back, i found a CCS racer at jennings in FL, who was from NY - and gave him my bike to take the next CCS race at loudon in NH for $300. H-D recently launched a shipping service that's supposed to have pretty good customer service and tracking visibility. that's the biggest complaint i had about the local company i used (and the private racer guy), no visibility as to where my bike was and whether the ETA was still good. i transport bikes back and forth to bike events.mostly from the new york area.ny to fl i charge $600. ny to south dakota is $700. both round trips, door to door. depending on what type of bikes i usually have 8 to 10 bikes at a time. i transport bikes to and from most of the bigger bike shows/rallys. brian | ||

my son just had a TL1000R shipped from Georgia to Seattle for $500.00. He used a firm called Forward Air. They have an enclosed metal crate set up to ship just bikes. Protected from other cargo etc. Got here just fine and he was able to track it's progress on line | ||

I've shipped 2 bikes to FL using JC Motors. Service was good, bikes arrived in 1 piece. I would recommend them. Shipped 1 bike from NY ~ $550 and shipped another from Texas ~$575. Tracking was not accurate but a phone call or 2 and I knew where my bikes were. Nothing beats flying and buying, though, If you have the time. Steve-O |
