This was quite a task, getting all the parts that is. I was trying to get them for less than I could with any discounts. I didn't do too bad either. 2004 upgraded parts: front pulley, belt, idler pulley, front pulley cover, rear pulley, upper and lower belt guards, '06 belt all for $299.39. The 2003 bike has around 11,000 miles on it and still had the original belt. The original belt had 2 small cracks in the outer side of the belt, about 1/8" long in different locations. The winter oil change spurred me on to start this job. Most difficult part of this job was removal and installation of the nut on the front sprocket. My device worked though. Second most difficult part was getting all the torque specs from the manual for all the different part areas. I used plenty of loctite in various, called for areas. Good day. | ||

T9r,Did you have to make the pulley holder? Could you just had left the belt on and loosed the nut before you took the belt off? Just wanted to know. | ||

I heard of someone else leaving the belt on and having a roomate hold down the rear brake while he wrenched on the nut. It might of worked but the sprocket holder thing worked well and I didn't have to monkey with the belt I took off. I can't imagine that puting that force on the old belt would be good for it, even if I was not to use it again. But who knows I might need it, or someone might want it and I didn't want to see them something defective. Past that I'd still have to install the new nut and I didn't want to load the new belt with those forces either. Most all the parts were from ebay. Some were from salvaged bikes on ebay other stuff looked brand new. | ||

Did you,change rear master cylinder and brake line ? Is there enough clearance between belt and master cylinder ? Thanks | ||

No change of the rear master cylinder nor the brake line. |
