Looks like Blast bashing. I don't know anything about the reliability because I've never had one, but I would have to agree with a lot of what they are saying. I think the blast is a turd too. I would think about getting one for a starter bike that my girl could ride for half of a season, but that is about it. I'm sure after the first month she would want biger, better, and faster. If I had a Blast I'm sure I would destroy it within the first couple rides.

Never did care for that site. It's completely anti-HD and anything to do with HD.

Don't have time to read how my bike is such a piece of crap posts.

The blast is a good bike. It handles well. A good rider on a deep canyon road can use one to keep up with many sportbikes.

The Blast was my first bike in many years and my first street bike. Although I did out grow it pretty quick, it got me back into riding and was well worth the 2Gs I spent for it new. I actually sold it for more than I paid for it.

the Blast is the Honda 305 of this generation -- that it's not a 600 in line from one of the big four is a silly discussion point -- it's a beginner bike, or a bike for someone that prefers nimble-ness and light weight over HP --

if I can pick the road, I'll race dunred near anyone on durned near anything for pink slips

The Blast is tons of fun! If I hadn't ridden the Lightning afterwards, I would have bought it instead. And it would've been my fourth bike (not a starter bike). It's no 600cc cruise missile, but it's not wimpy either.

I try to avoid any folk who berate others or their preferred motorcycles; for some reason doing so apparently helps such unfortunate folk feel better about themselves. Those kinds of people are not only not worth knowing, but can poison an entire community with their insidious bile. I like all motorcycles, truly. I prefer my Buell best of all.

When ever I go out riding with my buddies I hear this:

"When you gonna buy a real Harley?"
-Harley guy

"When you gonna buy a real sport bike?"
-Japanese-brand bike owner

The funny thing is I always draw more people then any of there bikes no matter how highly modified they may be. Publicity is what it is good or bad.

these guys are idiots. Before I joined the badweb, I used to hang out over there a lot but lately Ive been noticing that its the same losers who keep talking negative about everything from a newbie introducing themself to someone who wants to know how to do some tricks on their bike. Its not fun over there anymore, I like this site better because everyone seems closer and friendlier about things. Plus the smilies kick

"everyone seems closer and friendlier about things"

That's why there's so much arguing & bickering here..
Cause that's just what families do. : )

Badweb definitely feels like family

I switched from that site to Cycle Forums. Much friendlier place for just riders in general. All makes and models are welcome there.

Badweb makes a great site for Buell riders.

I think the bickering is common in the Car and Bike groups. The problem is the Know-it-alls have this nasty manufacture pride that takes over them and they become a bigot. They are right and you are wrong and that's where conflicts begin. Sometimes it makes me sick when people hate on my bike or ask me, "why a buell", (Thoughts of smacking them) I tell them you can't say anything till you ride one with an open mind.

Buellin_ri i totally agree! If I had a dollar for every thumbs up or "damn thats a bad bike." Or could charge a lookers fee. The bike would just about pay for it self every month.

I just tell them it's an EXOTIC so there is no comparison possible. You can either drool over spec sheets OR you can admire the intangibles. My air-cooled engine is more legend than empty data.. Buell conjures the history AND the future of motorcycles.. And I know it will never be "dated."

I've only come across two types so far... Those who like my bike already and those who are just starting to.

funny all of the "sportbike riders" on that site seem to be anti-buell but yet everytime I go riding I have em all inquiring about the bike. One even wanted to let me borrow his gixxer for a test run with my 12R. Too bad there isnt a smokin' smiley icon for that line.

I had an 05 Blast for almost two months. It is a good beginners bike, but lack of power is a serious issue with it. For building confidence, learning the basics, and just having fun, it is a great bike. It did accomplish what Buell and Harley wanted though, and that is get another person riding their bikes. When it was time to upgrade, I looked at all the Jap bikes, Motto Guzzis, Ducati, and Triumph. I stepped up to a Ulysses, and estimate that the Blast cost me about $0.58 per mile to learn the basics. Since the purpose of the Blast is to bring in new riders, I have to say it did exactly what it was designed to do. Would I recommend it to another beginner? Absolutely, in fact, I already have.

I own an XB9R and a Ninja ZX7. I much prefer riding the Buell. It's amazing that two bikes with similar missions achieve it through entirely different means. There's no mistaking one for the other.
At a recent sportbike gathering, the bike that attracted the biggest crowds was an XB12S. It stood out from the "me-too" full-fairing bikes. It was also owned by a young female rider! I thought only us *ahem* mature male riders rode Buells.
As soon as I heal from a broken thumb, I'm going to take my 9R to a harley gathering, just to gauge the reactions from the poseur crowd. Ought to be interesting.

Those guys from the other thread should read the latest Cycle World. Some guy did a comparison of bikes at around $4000. The Blast feared very well.

Buellin RI - take your Buell down to Razee's and see what kind of heat you get. Some of those guys are pretty sharp (and some are as sharp as a bowling ball). I think you would ge a good laugh out of that one.

Maybe THIS Blast! would change some minds:

Crossroads Blastard

Blastard 2
Crossroads Performance "Blastard"

...or maybe a Blast! flat-tracker:

tracker

tracker2

Damn! Motorcycles are cool!

I love my Blast, my XB, my S3T...you get the point...

FACT: All motorcycles are cool, and if someone beats on someone because of what they choose to ride, then that person has a small tallywhacker.

Bcordb3- I have been down to Razee with my 9R. Surprisingly they didn't have to much to say about it. They did have a used XB9R for sale a while back, they seemed like they had no opinion of the bike, treated it more as a novelty item.
