A day ago I noticed some hesitation once on acceleration and thought nothing of it. Today I decided to take a mini road trip and just when things were getting interesting. (Hills) the bike hesitated some more. After a few more minutes it hesitated and the check engine light went on. I drove to the nearest intersection and I let the bike idle before I turned it off and the check engine light went off. Something didn’t feel right so I decided I'd head back home. The whole way home about 10min ride the bikes hesitation got worse and the light went on. When it was at idle the light would go off then immediately go back on when the bike was moving. The last stretch home the bike went nuts. I had throttle then none then crazy power then nothing. The last few yards the bike was popped a few times and was hesitating like crazy.

On the way back I stopped at a gas station and filled the tank up and checked the oil. Oil looked fine to me. Any ideas??? Please help. I was loving this bike up till this point.

This bike has a new oil pump, which probably has 300 miles on it. No oil leaks are visible.

What about the battery? New? Discharged?

I would check for any wires that may have worn through.

perhaps some of your Power commander wiring has been compromised? check the injector wires, 02 sensor wire, and of course battery and ground cables.

I had similar symptoms and it was just a loose battery cable. Check there first I would say.

Olinx was right. I went to get a new battery and when I got back to change it I found the connections were loose both the + and the -. I replaced the battery and took it for a spin and the bike runs good as new.

All that vibration this bike creates did it. I'm going to have to loctite every bolt...

loctite is good, but correct fastener torque is also important. glad you have found the problem.

The way she was acting up I thought the bike was possessed. I'm glad I'm mechanically inclined. 70 bucks an hour at Harley would have burned a hole in my pocket. : )
