FS: 2004 XB12R Firebolt

Decided to sell the Buell. This hurts as I still love the bike, but I just have too many bikes so I've decided to sell it. It is a very reliable bike, has had no problems, and handles really well (don't believe the naysayers). Below is a description.

2004 Buell XB12R Firebolt (Red):
Pirelli Diablo Corsa tires. The front has very little wear, the rear is brand new. Transverse steering damper from the Kosco Formula Extreme team (as used on Michael Barnes 2004 bike)with 26 position Hyperpro linear damper. Buell Race Airfilter (K&N). Modified airbox for more flow. Dobeck Racing Techlusion TFI piggy back ECM (more fuel). Jardine Titanium exhaust. Exhaust servo emulator circuit (eliminates Buell servo motor). Lyndall racing carbon kevlar brake pads front and rear. Aluminum axle sliders front and rear. Buell frame sliders. Smoke Double Bubble screen. NGK Iridium plugs. Tech mounts radar detector mount and fused wiring for Escort X50. Spare tail section and airbox cover in red. Buell pillon Tailbag.

This is a very light bike and the mods and removing the rear pegs dropped about 20 lbs (measured on a scale) so the bike weights about 444 lbs wet with a full tank-the same as a GSXR1000. It is very flickable

The bike has 18,000 miles, has been meticulously maintained including oil and filter changes every 2500 miles with Syn 3 synthetic oil and factory filters.

The drive belt was changed at 14000 miles under warranty as a preventive measure due to wear. The clutch cable was replaced at 12,000.

The bike has never been crashed and has been to only one trackday at SOW.

I'll throw in the factory service manual and a pair of redline stands plus all the stock parts.

If you dont mind ne asking, How do you like the Diablo Corsa tires? I need new tires real bad and I cant Decide between the Corsa or the regular Diablo. I am never on the track but I push it on the street (Back roads, Sunday mornings ECT.) Thanks.

I did a track day on my Ducati with new standard Diablos mounted. Dragged both knees with nary a slip or a slide out of them. The Corsas might handle big HP better or high heat better, but the standard Diablos are no slouch and they get better mileage.

I read post you said you have to many bikes.Why did you pick the XB?????Not the the other bikes?Just wondering!!

I love the XB, but I bought a 749R which I love a little more and it's a better track bike. The other bikes are my girls two dirt bikes and my YZ400F motocrosser. It's just too much to maintain and takes too much space. I did take the XB out today for the 1st time in a couple of months and it's really hard not to keep it. I was having a blast and occasionally pulling 50-100 yard wheelies with ease and it didn't take long to re-adjust to the bike in the twisties after the Ducati. I love the bike, but I can't even get my truck in the garage right now and the wifey keeps telling me I need to sell it because I'm not riding it anyway.

As for tires, the 749R came with... yep you guessed it Diablo Corsas just like I run on the Buell. As for standard Diablos, I would probably just stay with Metzler M1's if price were my motive, but for me the Corsas are very predictable even when spinning or sliding and I figure tires are cheaper than skin grafts (and I typically get a pair of Diablo Corsas for about $260). I suppose it really depends on how and where you ride as well, but I usually wear out the sides of the tire before the middle, so I would rather have the softer compound and more track oriented tire. Some people like the new Michelin Pilot Powers as well or better than the Corsa and they are cheaper, but I'm old school and when I find something I like and is predictable, I figure if it aint broke don't fix it.
