ok i know this has been discussed, but i went to get some new plugs today and since i was at the harley shop anyway and couldn't remember any plug #'s off the top of my head i just had them look up a set for me. they said that it is the same plugs the v-rods use? i guess i have never heard anyone mention that, but what they gave me is the harley gold 6r12g plugs because that was all they had at the moment. is that right? (havent even pulled the old ones out to compare yet).

and by the way, anyone have an idea of where i should look to find amsoil? ive been wanting to try running that in my bikes but i haven't come across a place that sells it yet. i could be blind though

If you look at wear charts and such Amsoil is superior. Royal Purple is very pricey and it is not nearly as protective. If you go to the amsoil website and sign up as a preferred customer for $20 you get smokin deals on all of there stuff plus a monthly catalog with price's for there products. Fast shipping too.

"the harley gold 6r12g plugs"

I believe you're supposed to use 10R12 plugs, thought the 6R12 ones were the wrong temp range or something. There's a Service Bulletin out about it someplace, don't know if it's the same recommendation for the XB line though.

The 6R12 plugs are definitely NOT the ones to use on your Buell, and should be returned to the shop, where they should be inserted (sideways if at all possible) into the rearmost orifice of the salesperson responsible with all the dignity you can muster, accompanied by the mantra, "Promise me you will try harder next time! Merry Christmas, My Arse!"

You should then buy the 10R12 plugs and be very happy.

DO NOT USE 6R12 in your XB, they are two full heat ranges too hot. the parts counter monkey needs additional training. 10R12A is right.

I have had very good luck with the Buell Racing Plugs...change them out every 600 - 7000 miles and that keeps the bike running and starting real good.
