Don't know if I'd compare the two, but Speed did. Here's some screen shots:

I had caught the show late last week, but wanted to get Dave Despain's quote at the end, which goes: 'Erik Buell, it seems to me, does a very impressive job of packaging an out of place motor'.

I finally sat on an XB9S at the dealer tonight. It was a very comfortable bike. I loved the way it looks. In person...the damn fender extension doesn't look that out of place.

However...it certainly looked small underneath me. It felt small just sitting on it.

I'll have to ride it.

I was able to check out the Speed Four in Dallas a month or so ago. It looks awesome. It "fit".

I didn't get to ride that bike either but I did hear it run. Nice.

I could easily compare the two by looks and size.

Remember my buddy Keith, the one with the CBR600F3 racebike in back of his truck when I ran into you at Lone Star HD/Buell/Triumph this summer? Anyway, Lone Star actually put their only XB9S on duty as a demo and Keith put on the first 10 miles on a quick demo ride. He liked it, said the front brake makes the already well documented tik-tik-tik noise and that shifting down from 3rd at a light was tough. He was actually a good boy and didn't rev it over 3500 or go over 60 mph. He said throttle control was seemless and smooth.

Nice bike, Buell has figured out how to get a real nice finish on the Black surlyn.

I sat on it, but didn't take it for a ride. The ergos were way too upright for me. I would need to mount clip-ons straight away. The bike in no way feels too small when I'm on it, but I think I'd be willing to sacrifice some handling prowess for a bike better suited to my 6'-3" frame.

We are planning to head to the track (OHR) on Saturday November 2nd if you are interested. X1Glider (Bob) from Houston is planning on joining us too.

You are hereby fined ONE PATCH for telling a lie. :)

I can't wait to see this 9S amd the good news for the 'umph fans, is that they seem to have developed a more than worth entry in the class.

The Buell XB9S Lightning looks very small in the photo above and I, a mere 6'-0", giggled at the mental pic of Blake mounted atop one as I waws reminded of an ol' Monkey on a Bicycle joke...

I rode the 9S last week at Daytona. Very tiny bike. I'm 6'1" & I was very comfortable on it. But, then I like bikes that most consider very small. I'm very comfortable on Sportsters (my 2nd favorite bike behind Buells of course) even without forward controls. I loved the 9S. Thought about riding right over to the dealer & trading in my M2. At least until I walked back to my M2, looked at it, sat on it, then said to my self "no way, I love this thing!" I love the way tube frame Buells look, ride, & smell! I'll walk out into my garage late at night, stare at it, & consider starting it up & riding off into the night. But, that damn loud Force Streetfighter would wake up my neighbors & my girlfriend. Maybe I need a 2nd Buell? A nice, quiet, stock 9S so I can take those midnight rides & keep the peace with the girlfriend & neighbors.

I feel the same way. I don't think I'll ever part with my M2, but I might be able to make room for another bike to complement it.

Trust me, this guy wasn't covering, he is THE epitome of conservative riding. His current road bike is a Night Train. I hereby appeal your patch edict. :p
