I enjoyed the debate about XB handling on another thread. I did my first track day on Saturday, and all I can say is that I am convinced that my XB9R is the best handling bike I have ridden. I had the only Buell at Texas World Speedway, and I rode with some guys that had a lot of track experience in the intermediate class. Most of them were on Japanese bikes with a few European bikes thrown in.

I got completely blown away on the straights as I knew I would. But when the track was open to passing in the curves in the afternoon, I did plenty of passing, and I did not get passed one time in the curves, only on the straights. I was even able to pass someone on a Ducati 748. This may have been due to it being a fluke, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I was even able to get knees down all over the track in the afternoon once the track surface was warm. I think I am addicted. I only hope I can find a way to afford all the tires that I am going to go through. My wife and I drove home happy as could be. She took her SV1000S, and she had a really good time as well.

I will get some still photos and a DVD with footage where an instructor followed me with a bike cam for 2 laps. I will try to post those as soon as I get them in the mail.

I can't wait for the spring for more track days!

Right on! Glad you had a good time. I did my first track time in Pahrump, NV at Jason Pridmore's 2 day school in Nov. I know what you mean by addicting. I have an XB12R and it handled great. I think everyone should get out to the track if possible. It's a great learning experience. I ran my stock D208's and they did just fine. I'm going back in Feb. I was the only Buell there, which was cool. Tires do get used up pretty good as you saw. Can't wait to see the video if possible.

I had just put on a new set of Michelin Pilot Powers. I felt really confident with them. I figure I might get 3 track days out of them. I don't know, but I can't wait for the next one.

sounds like you did great. remember you are on a lightweight class bike. the 600cc japan inc bikes are middle weights.

Be proud, I'm sure those guys were very frustrated when you went by and there was nothing they could do.
Anyone can point and shoot a liter bike. Riding a lightweight fast takes skill.

Dueceman - I have done track days at TWS on both my R1 and my XB12R and I like the Buell a lot more. I would have been at the track last weekend, but I am layed up because of an accident on my R1. Will be back at TWS next year and I am planning on doing MSR Houston also. Let me know the next time that you are planning on going.

Excellent! More Texas BadWeB Buellers hitting the race tracks!

Hey guys, be sure to get your CMRA Rider's school certification next time you do an associated track day. Then y'all can treck up to Oak Hill Raceway for a weekend of track fun in East Texas. We gotta make that happen. I'll be talking to the local dealerships about sponsoring such an event come Springtime.

Wooohooo!

Blake I am planning on doing that next year as soon as I get healed up from my injuries from my street get off do to antifreeze being dumped in the road ( 3 broken ribs and a broken collar bone and $5,600 in damages to my R1 ). Atleast I still have my XB12R in shape to ride when I heal.

My wife and I are really considering doing the Mike Sanchez track day at MSR Houston on the 19th of December. Mstar, I know you won't be ready to go by then, but I will definitely be doing all the track days I can afford in the spring. Also, Blake Skully emailed me a picture of the Oak Hill Raceway, and I plan on making it up there in the spring as well. Let me know what the schedule is for those so I can start planning now.

I have done several track days on my old 9S and one on my 12R. I only did one this year because of shoulder surgery twice this year. I will be healed up for next year. The 208's did fine on a warmer day also. I did try riding the 12R like it was my old 9S and almost got into trouble. LOL New underwear and a lot of rearwheel sliding. LOL. I can wait until next season. I have a Drummer, Filter, and Race ECM and a lap timer now. So I know how I am doing. Have fun in Dec with your track days. I will have to wait until March or April in Indiana. You warm climate guys make me jealous. LOL Brupska
