I had a chance to ride a Busa, So I took it,
can I say that f@#king thing is a bullet, the more I twisted the faster it went,
seriously think of switching over.
no disrespect to Buell or my fellow buellester.
I can't be the first right?

You're not the first, but speed gets old real quick from what I hear (or you die...). That said, I'd like to have a Hayabusa for a touring bike.

Corners don't get old until you die.

Are you asking for permission or forgiveness?

It's your money dood! It has two wheels, that's the important part...

yeah,
I have to borrow the Busa for a weekend, to make sure , It's for me,
I love the fact I can throw around the Xb with little effort.
I guess I'll know sooner or later.

They will probably redesign the busa soon, so you might want to wait till they do. It has been pretty much unchanged for quite a few years now, so I would think they will come out with something bad soon. Kawi just entered into busa territory with their new big bike, so I'm sure suzuki wants to put the new Kawi to shame next year.

The Busa was designed in a wind tunnel to achieve the most aerodynamic shape to maximize speed. I'm guessing that's why it hasn't changed much over the years.

Speed isn't what's addictive to me. Accleration is. I typically chicken out around 140mph. My FJR would exceed that easily. But what a RUSH to twist the throttle and have to grip the bike with both hands and both legs to stay on it while it tried to snap your neck off.

I can honestly say, that's the only thing that I miss about my FJR. The XBX is a better bike in every other area.

I kinda dig the looks of the ZX14. Harkens to the Honda Interceptor.

Wammy - not cut'n on ya. Just hoping that you won't be talking bad about Buells if ya go.

i just road a busa my friend wants me to buy from him, i really like it too. it is a very different ride. one of the main factors for me switching is the fact there are no service/dealers near me anymore. vroom vroom!

This is an interesting article on this basic subject--no Buells, but rather it's a comparison between a Multistrada 620 and a GSX-R1000, done in an area with tight, twisty, but not terribly smooth roads (right here in BC, actually!). The author makes up the word "Funvelope" at one point, defining it as the "envelope or range of speed where a bike is truly fun to ride,"

I find my Buell to have a very wide "funvelope"--I can enjoy it as much in some local super-tight twisties as I can on long sweepers--maybe more--whereas I find some I4 bikes I've ridden to be almost boring until I'm up in license-revoking territory. One reason I bought the Buell was it's very lack of power--I don't really trust myself to restrain from using everything available, and I've proven I can go plenty fast enough on my XB9R (or ate least the local authorities think so; they've given me a few performance awards for my efforts).

Get both. I enjoy my Busa as much as either of my Buells.

I'm lucky to have them.

I've been looking at an '05 Duc S4R. I think I'm gonna demo one when I get a chance. My only problem is I can have only one bike.

Had I gone to the Suzuki shop to get my new helmet BEFORE buying the Buell, there would be no Buell in my basement right now. No doubt. Though, I have no regrets either.

A good friend of mine went to the dark side and got rid of his X-1 for a hayabusa, although I think he has more in suspension mods in that Haya than he had total in his Buell...
First it was total suspension upgrade, ohlins, etc. then, it was shortened wheelbase via gsxr swingarm
now, he's making his own rearsets and selling them, because he couldnt find any!
Of course, he IS just a wee bit crazy...

Don't forget about the corner thing, That Land Yacht can't turn near as well as the Buell. There's a reason why they are so good on the 1/4, cause they ain't sheet on the turny's

I dig the looks of a Viffer, not so big on the ZX14. That thing just looks freakin huge. I've ridden 'busas, they're big, go fast, fun bikes, but are pigs in the turns. Maybe for a second go fast bike, yeah, but I'd still rather ride a Buell and maybe have a VRF on the side...

there is a reason the 'busa is also known as shamu and it's not just the paint scheme.

It is long, fat, and eats squids.

remember there are curves in the real world and you also have to consider how much time you spend at speeds greater than 160 or so.
The 'busa and it's ilk are designed for long flat straight runs at extreme speed, and last time I checked they cost less than the 'busa.
I would buy a gsxr1000, cbr1000rr, zx10r, R1, etc if I wanted more speed. At least they can get around a corner with their dignity intact.
No flame intended, just my opinion

I ride with a guy who has a busa, he let me ride it a few times and its a bike so i had fun but it was a tad big and I'm 5'11" 220lbs.If that is the type of bike you need for your riding style then get it.

My bike prior to the XBR and my marriage was the first Ninja 900, back in 84.
I low sided it off the road and down hill, Turnbull canyon Whittier CA.
I think the Busa just might have shot me back to relive my younger days.
I'm glad it prompted so many replies.
I have room for one more bike, maybe before spring.
