Just got it at the urging of my new favorite motorcycle dealer (Stone Mountain HD-Buell). I've got Contis on the Duck, Bubs on one Guzzi and Quat-D on the other -- and this pipe sounds as good as any of 'em.

Linear power -- loud (but not straight-pipe loud) -- and a reasonable price.

I see a lot of love letters to Kevin @ Drummer on this forum -- and I'm sure they're well-deserved -- but when I go home and pour a Scotch tonight, I'll raise my glass to Odie.

Good work, Odie -- and thanks to Chris in parts at Stone Mountain HD for bringing customer service to a n ew level..

I also applaud Odie and the Special OPS pipe. Hey Odie, do you make a quiet version?

Would any of you Special Ops pipe owners classify it as obnoxiously loud? I am seriously considering one for an Xmas gift to me. I heard the one on LoneXB's bike last weekend, but only as he was idling into the local haunt. I never did get to hear it WFO. I don't mind loud. I don't like painful loud. If I want painful loud I'll ride my Blast. LOL

Not obnoxiously loud at all. Sounds better than any pipe I've heard. The butt dyno tells me it works too. I just need a quiet pipe. I'm a moto-referee for bicycle races on the side and the quieter the better. That said, it only take about 10 minutes to swap between stock and Special OPS.

I was at the local HD shop a couple of weeks ago and the entire sales staff escorted me outside so they could listen to the Odie Pipe. One said "man, that's the best sounding bike I've ever heard". There ya go.

Sorry for the thread hijack guys, but

Hey JLB, what was the cause of the "SHAKES" in your f-bolt a few weeks ago? I ask because I've developed a low rpm "buzz" that rattles the levers on the bars & causes me to get a free foot massage thru the pegs. Something has gone wrong, was wondering what you found on yours.

Saintly - I took it in and they found nothing. I pointed out that the left clip-on had some play and they tightened it. I think they gave the front end a look see, but that was about it. I had them replace the rear tire. I rode it home and it was better. Extremely puzzling. I will check the primary tension when i get around to it. Basically I have learned nothing, but the shakes seem to have subsided. It was definitely in the engine though, because I would pull the clutch in and coast, and the vibration would disappear.

I have been very pleased with my Special OPs pipe also!
It runs and sounds like a scalded dog should!

Close to obnoxious. Not drag pipe loud, enough to make all the HOG guys do a double take. Pleasantly loud idle up to 3k, then it gets near obnoxious. When I first bolted mine up, I thought it was too loud. Guy I was riding with said "Makes your bike sound like some wicked Hot Rod". Needless to say, it's grown on me. You do need earplugs for extended rides. IIRC Odie offers a money back guarantee if your unhappy. More than fair IMHO.

I installed a couple of baffles in the outlets on mine to tone it down a little. Has the same great sound but is not so loud when cruising down the road. It also brought the vibration back to normal which increased substantially when the pipe was first installed. Being able to modify it to suit your tastes is one of the beauties of Odie's pipe. All you need is a mig welder and some imagination. I purchased the pipe out right so I could keep my stock one.

The OPS pipe is a reworked stock pipe.
The D&D is like two mini mufflers after the collector.
OPS=one outlet
D&D=twin outlets

mine wasn't obnoxious at all, i loved the sound... in town, EVIL hot-rod. highway, just fine to me but i did have a slightly more pronounced 'ring' in my helmet (X-11) with the OPS than I did with my Drummer. only at certain RPM though.

The Special Ops pipe has been on my 05XB12s now for about two weeks. She installed easily, has a hard hitting deep sound and on the dyno last week here in Columbus, Ohio delivered some pretty decent numbers (88.75hp and 73.5ft-lbs). The curves were nearly textbook perfect-zero flat spots. The pipe is a very fine piece of work and Odie is a good guy to work with. You'll like it Buell_892.

I've got a few compliments on the sound of mine... I like it myself, loud, but not too loud... One correction Glitch, Odies pipes on the 9s are one outlet, on the 12s they have two...
GoAhead, give yourself a Christmas present...

I rode with Kevinfromwebb this summer and the OPS pipe sounded great. Not too loud and less of a droning tone as my Buell Race pipe.

Does anyone have a dyno graph for the Special Ops pipe on the XB9 either stock or race kit?
