   This mount can be used for all kinds of things, it is heavy gauge steel and grade-8 bolts. I have used it mostly for the video camera but one time I put a 15 foot antenna on there for my CB radio. Talk about redneck. Pwnzor reading the mail and I'm back out. | ||

Cool mounting option. Looks pretty sturdy too.. One of these days, I've got to try and get a video camera hooked up for one of my rides.. Maybe, we'll have to start a 'ride post' area where we can keep a couple of videos of rides for mutual enjoyment. Maybe something rotating the videos in and out (so we're not trying to use ALL the bandwidth available)? | ||

Indeed, sounds a good idea. I have a web server where I could host some video clips with no advertisements. More on that later. Now, I need people to put their heads together and give suggestions on how to dampen the vibration. This rig is hard-mounted to the bike so it vibrates quite a lot. Should I try and put some sort of gel pad between the camera and the mount? Or should I try to put some rubber between the mount and the bike? | ||

Try both. Maybe one at a time. I mounted mine to the rear footpeg and the vibes were less than they were mounted to the handle bars.  | ||

Currently use a bullet cam but when I used my full size camera I found that turning the image stabilizer on made for a very clear picture. Will post vid from it when I find it. | ||

Yeah, it has "steadyshot" and I still get some weird horizontal interference at certain rpm levels. A digital camera would probably solve it as well, but I'm not ready to risk my good camera. I have nightmares of seeing $2000 bouncing down the road behind me. | ||

why not make a "roll cage" for the camera, then have the cage and camera hook to the mount? | ||

You mean suspend the camera within the cage, and then bolt the cage to the rig...? hmmmmm... | ||

I used a CVS Pharmacy "one time use" video camera attached to the front fairing. Here are some pics from the Track Day: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/157399.html?1130716844 You can see the camera mounted on the right side of the fairing (blue XB12R) in one of the photos. Very high-tech mount...double stick foam tape and electricians tape!  Can't wait to see some videos from other riders.
