So today I'm tooling down the freeway and up ahead I see a plastic grocery bag flitting around between the lanes. I was in the carpool lane (that little double yellow one) and the bag was directly ahead so I changed lanes because I didnt want it getting sucked into the air intake. I moved over 2, then 3 lanes but the wind was making the bag move the same way as me. I swerved back toward the carpool lane, and the bag did likewise. This bag was comin to get me.

It did get me.

BOTH of the looped handles caught on my front brake lever and it opens up like a parachute, yanking the lever back and slamming on the front brake at about 80mph. My heart begins to beat more rapidly, but I keep my cool with cars stacking up at high speed behind me, my velocity rapidly decreasing. Now I'm trying to free the damn bag by pulling it forward but the wind had it looped twice around the lever and it just tightens up. I pulled with all my strength and just yanked it off directly to the side, clamped my hand back on the throttle and goosed it as hard as I could, popping up the front wheel a bit, and getting the hell out of the way of these cars bearing down on me. It's as close a call as I've ever had, and it makes me just want to remind how valuable it is to look as far ahead as you can, and remain calm when things inevitably happen like this.

Everyone ride safe, please.

I was driving my Cole truck back to my warehouse over a mountainous road and just happened upon a motorcyclist on my side of the road facing me, just yanking a black garbage bag off his head. That cat almost died.

i was on an unlit feeder off a major freeway and had a shopping cart roll out in front of me out of nowhere! not as scarey as you except for the fact that at first a thought a car had pulled out in front of me. luckily the cart stopped right in front of me so all i had to do is make a really quick lane change. definately reminds you to be cautious at all times. you never know!
