After looking at the City X last year at the MI bike show, interest grew in purchasing a Buell although the seat/pegs relationship led me to wait until something came out that suited my anatomy(34" inseam and a bad knee). When the 12Ss came out, i knew it was what i was looking for. I went to the dealer yesterday to sit on one and ask a few questions on pricing. The salesman was oblivious to what a "Long" was! and here was one sitting out in front of his shop. This guy also added $800.00 to the MSRP. I'm certainly not fan of HD dealers to start with but are there any MI Buell dealers who are brand knowledgable and willing to deviate from MSRP?? Also what's the concensus on XB's reliability so far? any major problems starting to show? While i've always done my own maint. and repairs, i'm not interested in a "problem bike"
Thanks in advance,RichieC

I've got 1200 miles on mine with no problems. I paid MSRP for mine. See DaveS on this board for a new one from a dealer that knows Buell.

I would also suggest talking to DaveS from appleton HD he does everything to make you happy and can answer any question you have......as for reliability I have only 3K miles on my Reg S and I have nothing to complain about except how much my cheeks hurt when I get home from riding

FYI:

I was surprised to find that the seat to peg distance on the XB12ss is no greater. I measured it to make sure.

Don't forget though, that the seat is longer and there is room for the long-legged to slide back.

Richiec...
The XB series of Buell is extremely reliable.
I ride daily in any weather and the only things I have HAD to replace was a few relays and fuses...and tires!

the XB12Ss is great.
Daves is really great.
I have had a little experience with both of them:-)

However, you might want to test a ULY before you make the plunge.
Not that you can go wrong with either bike, but the seating position of the ULY might be a bit more "knee friendly",
and despite its "Afrika Rallye" look, it is a great cornering street bike, and very comfortable for commuting and touring with its bespoke bags.
just my .02¢

Thanks for all the input guys, Seems there is something different between the CityX and Long in regards to seat/peg relationship. Perhaps pegs are a bit farther forward... I will be contacting Daves in the near future.

The long is 2" longer.. and that includes the frame being a bit stretched.. where ther X is a standard lighting frame... that might account for it.. the Long is very much like the riding position on my X1.. hence the reason that will be my next bike...
