Well, I finally picked my new XB12R up on Friday and I must admit, I'm in love. Although I'm working on the break-in miles, I can already tell what an amazing machine this is. I've never taken a corner with such confidence. This thing is on rails. Just want to say thanks to all the badwebbers who replied to my post and helped me choose this incredible bike. The race kit exhaust sounds amazing, maybe that's why I'm getting the looks...

I don't get all the shots about Dunlops. Didn't the XB12R earn the title of the worlds best cornering bike with the STOCK Dunlops? All the other great handling reviews, stock Dunlops?
I've been using them for years on the street and several track days and don't find anything wrong with them (wish they lasted longer) but maybe I don't ride as good as ya'll. Ain't got no chicken strips neither!

Al, have you tried any other tires so you have something to compare to?
Next time you need a set, buy a set of M1s, or Diablos, not only will they last longer, you'll feel the difference.
I will admit there are those that have tried other tires and go back to Dunlops.
But this is another thread subject...we don't want to hijack a thread with this dead horse.

I have found that while the Dunlops stick good, they just don't last long. If $$ were not an issue, I would probably still be on 208s, albiet changing them every 2,500 to 3,000 miles would still suck!

I thought the Dunlops were fine......until I tried the Syncs.

Your results may vary. I'm not a racer.

Glad you like the XB.

I'm no racer either, I don't get the Dunlop bashing. To be honest I think its all internet hype (but no offense to anyone. buy what you like!). I went to M1's on my last bike and did not feel any earth-shattering difference, they were good tires, just like my Dunlops. But I definitely had a head full of rumor that they were insanely good, so i road 'em a little harder. what do they call that, the 'placebo effect'? i think it applies to tire brands too.

Even my ancient 207s were just fine... 208s a little better and M1s a teeny-weeny bit better but not enough to make me buy 'em again.

I still think I'm going to try out the new Qualifiers... I figure why not, they wear out in no time anyway. Maybe its the SHAPE of the tire that people really like or not like... not so much the rubber compounds. no clue. its all preference so i'm glad there are choices.

This wouldn't be the aggressive settings now would it?

It is the shape. That and the tire carcass design. The stock 207's make the bike stand up when trail braking. M1 and Diablo Corsas don't. The M1 is more stable and the Diablo Corsas are better yet. As for traction, I found the 207's were as sticky if not stickier than the others...

208's probably work a lot better, but I have no experience with them.

Congratulations Josh, now get your butt to northwest Arkansas so we can ride. This Saturday there is a Groundbreaking/Poker Run here in Rogers. Should be fun. Whatever you do, keep up the break in schedule. Remember though, common sense is the key.

Glitch,
Tell me more about the Shawn Higbee suspension settings, I changed to Crossroads bars a while back and the bike just doesn't feel right anymore.

Ken,
I can't find the info now.
Hard drive crash a month or so ago, must have been some of the data lost.
If I'm not mistaken Daves sent it to me via e-mail.
He's always willing to help, give him a shout.
