Check out the before and after pictures. Just new paint, but I think it looks a whole lot meaner. What do you guys think? before buell and after buellbefore buell

The blue is before, and the black is after. I am loving it. Next comes matte black powder coated wheels when these tires wear out. Too bad they're brand new.

Looks very intimidating.

Any plans for the frame and swingarm? Perhaps a black tint windshield as well.

What paint did you use? Primer first?

I just used semi-gloss black automotive paint without primer. I "washed" all the plastic with steel wool and detergent to remove all the oil and rough it up a little. The paint stuck just fine to the rough plastic. I am trading a friend for a clear windshield which I will paint on the inside with black. I won't be doing that until the wheels get powdercoated.

Thats a good start to a blacked out bike, but you should probably just get a smoke shield in case you really want to use it. I saved this pic from a while back, he had it for sale in the classified section. Its by far the best blacked out 12R I have ever seen, plus you could probably get some ideas.black 12r

Deuceman,

I really dig the flat black bodywork. But those wheels are showpieces and I think painting them black is going to far.

But I do kinda like the all black bike above.

Heck, I dunno. Best to go aheda and do what please you. : )

Looks good I've debated changing mine from white to black several times.

Lonexb,
How is it going? Is the bike fixed this time? Can't stop riding the new XB12X. See you soon.

Mike
