I quickly reviewed the achieves and haven’t found any “easy” solutions to the puke tubes and their associated mess in the breather box.
The rear cylinder on my new Ss seems to be the culprit, it is always the wet tube. The only reason I’m even remotely concerned is I’m planning on getting a K&N filter and another air box cover (to cut open) over the winter and I’d hate like hell to ruin the filter because of the oil from the tube. Is there an easy ‘fix for the XB’s in this regard? I was talking to Hogs (Chris) awhile back and I can't remember what he suggested.

Another question, I currently have about 4500 kms on the bike and the wear bars are starting to show on the rear tire already. Is this normal wear for the Dunlops? I'm a big fella, about 260, and don't baby the bike. I’m thinking of Pilot Powers as replacement….thoughts?

HEy Dan,
Hope your taking advantage of this Spring like weather today, and just not sitting back and chatting on here LoL... YEah thats about all your going to get on that rear, although the wife got 9300 klm`s on hers ,But a little weight difference there :-), The powers I have, have like 7500 klms, on it now and its due, BUt having said that it does stick GooD, wife has the Avon`s on hers now and like 5000 klms, still looks like new,

NOrris makes them cans (puke), and I know your a talented type of fella ,I`m sure ya could run some hoses (2) down into a T and at the end of that hose (clear) install a valve and let the Crap out from time to time... cheap and simple.. NOw I`m getting out and RIDE even though I have this Damn COLD...! LAter

DBF - Drummer Racing Products has just the thing you need. Its called a catch can. I've had 4 of them CNC'd as a first run and just tested one on my XB12Ss today. Works good - Got about 2 tablespoons of oily water out of it today after about an 80 mile ride. I haven't got it up on the website yet www.kdfab.com since I had to test out myself to make sure it was good. Sit tight 'till next week and I'll have pictures and info. Its a complete kit with everything you need - Catch can, hose, stainless screws, brass fittings and plugs for the air box.

Chris...you lucky bastard, I had to work today with tears in my eyes wishing I could ride. We aren't getting too many more 16 degree days in November that's for sure. I haven't seen you around lately...got a bunch of new mods to my bike...really rips now...not like yours but it rips. Hopefully I'll see you around before it snows.

Hogs - I traded my 9 in for the 12. The father of one of the techs at the HD bought it immediately. I kind of miss it. The 9 is a revvier more willing engine for riding the tight, twisty back roads around here. We've got a really late fall going this year in Jersey. The riding is still good.

Oh you traded it in I see, Right on Hmm I`m thinking of getting the pulleys/clutch basket off a 9 and replace them with my 12`s... Wd. make them off idle stand up wheelies you like to do so much better :-),Don`t really care anyways about doing those 130 + mph runs anymore anyway...Been there done that + bones don`t heal as fast at your age LoL
YEah the weather is the same here ,MAn makes one think old man weather might pass us by or take it easy on us this year..
You must like it though how the 12 stands up so easy just at the wack of the throttle, Hahah yesterday a bunch of metric sportriders were coming to wards me right downtown (slow speed)they waved and I thought I wd. of course do the salute back ,but also with the bike, just wacked it and rolled up on one and pass them & did the salute, no reving the guts out of here.. of course with the open Force its a might loudd...Thats what I like over the 9...
That pulley comb. up top might make it that easy as well in 2nd...You know we got to have our fun....

Dbf, if you haven't already seen it, here's one of those threads Hogs was talking about from May'05:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/114297.html
NorrisPerformance made a bunch of cnc machined billet anodized catch cans for people to route breather hoses to. An actual 'review' here:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/123882.html
American Sport Bike sells a collector, can't tell how big it is from the website pic tho.
http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F3311253&rnd=9957 515&rrc=N&affl=&cip=69.162.191.128&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=5624&cat=&catstr=
I recall some earlier badweb thread debate about whether or not the tubes/valves/filters require slight vacuum from being located in the airbox to assist ventilation scavenge of crankcase mist gasses/blowby or if just an EPA emmissions requirement; and also, if there really was an actual measurable 1-2 horsepower gain moving breathers out of the airbox.
Some people creatively rigged/routed inexpensive pcv hose, found bottles of several types, and solved the perceived breathing issue by routing a tube back to the airbox for vacuum.

Jerseyguy-Thanks. I'll check back this weekend and see what drummer has to offer.
Johnb-thanks for the links. I'll have to do a little more research into the vacuum issues. Cheers.

Check with American Sport Bike - he's the supplier of the catch cans that Mike makes. I have one on my bike and have to say that the fit and finish on these things is awesome. Shaped to fit on the oil cooler mount, comes with longer bolts - works well with the airbox kit that American Sport Bike sells.

Thanks Cruisin,
Yeah Mike out of the goodness of his heart sent me one for testing, I have used it since day one, just did a little mod to mine that Mike also did for me with an extra hole up top for a puke line open to the air or one could install a filter... If one wants to do any of the above at all that is LoL btw nice black mine was just machine finish which also looks good...

Mike's cutting the same blanks for Drummer Racing Products except our logo is engraved in it and we are selling all the hoses, fittings, screws and plugs with it complete. Same product basically with similar pricing to American Sport Bike. Either way its a good product.

Awesome! I just ordered my K&N vent filter from American Sport Bike. My bike is already running so well I can't wait to clean up the airbox! I think it will be sweet!
Thanks again,

Jerseyguy,
Got the catch can on yesterday and the installation was a breeze. I ran my breather over the top of my engine and it runs GREAT! I got about 2 TSB of funk after only a 20-25 mile ride this AM and another 1/2 TSB from a 5 mile errand this afternoon! I don't know if I got any HP out of this mod, but I'm glad my engine dosen't have to ingest all that crap anymore! Since I had the air box off I put some NGK iridium plugs (NGK#2316 or DCPR9EIX-1 heat range colder than stock-now my 12 dosen't ping as much when I lug it a little on acceleration!) and Magnecor KV85 wires on as well and the bike has never run better My Drummer SS is insane! Thanks again!

Nope, I just dialed the 800 # and told the man what I was riding. They were only $31.00 + shipping and they fit like a charm!
