I am the proud owner of an XB9SX. This is my first bike and I'm loving it! After the initial break-in period I installed a K&N filter. What an improvement!! Since I live in Michigan I have all winter to decide what to modify next. I am thinking about getting the Drummer pipe for my bike, but have also considered the factory race pipe. Regardless of which way I go I will probably install the race ECM as well. Any advice or experience that you would like to share, I'd love to hear.

Check out Odie's Special O.P.S. pipe in the sponsor section.....best bang for your buck by far. Most of the 3%ers run that pipe and they love it.

Haha,

Hey, Kev, I'll prob send my muffler to you sometime this winter. : ) As right now riding time is precious, I'm not going to afford downtime if I can avoid. Love the fat looking port on the exhaust. Now, the sound track you got on the site is pretty accurate on how it'll sound right?

Buy the SS Drummer. The sooner Kevin moves out his current stock the sooner I can get one made with the chin fairing mounts!

The Race ECM, K&N filter with the 12(airbox) cover, along with a pipe.

You won't regret the small investment.
The difference between stock and these little mods, is like Day n Night..

Don't procrastinate about it..
Just do IT.

The Drummer has a few options to choose from ranging from 180.00 to 550.00 I believe.
I get compliments daily for the sound off the Loud Drummer and it performs great.

I have a 9R and tried the Race Pipe for about 20 minutes...lost a lot of power near the bottom but the upper range was pretty good. I hated the fact that a torque based motor would lose so much on the bottom.

Sold the pipe to another Badwebber and got the Drummer...much better. Not quite as much of a jump at the top but pretty dang impressive while definitely helping the bottom and midrange big time.

For the investment the Race ECM, 12 Lid (cut or not), K&N, and Drummer is a great value and gives great results. For someone who wants to be on the pipe a bit more and stay in the upper ranges the same setup might be good with the race pipe.

Easy choice...Drummer!!! I sell these things to people all the time. Plus Kevin was able to match my peak hp numbers going from the Force exhaust system to the Drummer slip-on.

you can't beat the Jardine its way cheaper then anything else available, just as loud as the others, just as much power as the others, lighter then anything else available.

And when you sell your bike you can put the stock muffler back on because it wont have been butchered.

Charlie (or anyone else), Do you have any dyno printouts to verify that?
I'm trying to find some of the Buell race can vs. the Drummer. When we tested them back to back, overall the Drummer lost quite a bit of power compared to the race can.
Thanks!

Matty,
sure is strange your results differ from what I designed, I've had the dyno sheets of the drummer and Race can on my site for 1.5 yrs now...I made the muffler and dynoed to be better than the race can.....I know it doesn't lose overall power to the race can...what I do know is that if the bike had the race can or the Drummer on first and the other was just put on and run without the afv being reset to 100% for each and 7 minutes of 3400rpm learning for each, that the runs are not going to be good for any comparison....if you would e-mail me your fax # I'd be glad to show you how I beat the race can on the 12 with the SS...the 9 dynos are on the site www.kdfab.com that 3 months and over 60 runs of consistancy with both pipes done by Bubba on Tilley's dyno....

I want to see a drummer VS jardine dyno test. Just about every muffler on the market will beat the race muffler in all areas with exception of top end.

I want to see an independent test all done on the same bike and dyno with drummer, drummer SS, D&D and Jardine.

Then we can tell which muffler is the best and can form opinions based on pricing. Such as why buy a brand X muffler for $500 dollars if the brand Y muffler for $300 if just 1 or 2 HP less in performance.

Until then Kevin you can punch out 300 dynos on tilleys machine and it wont prove anything to me.

If your so sure that your muffler is king then why dont you fund a shootout conducted on a stock bike in a neutral location on a dyno out of state.

Looks to me like you need to fund it because you have the problem with the issue not I....I don't care what muffler is king because I know what I'm capable of and if you want to see what they all do then buy them all in question and lets get this done.....I have plenty to do today and all my customers know the difference because most of them have had other products and all have the same thing to say....If you don't like the drummer then don't like it, it's your opinion....what's the name of your exhaust, make something better, it seems to be your agenda, I for one would like to see someone step up and make some products that do more than look and sound good......

"And when you sell your bike you can put the stock muffler back on because it wont have been butchered."

I say: All the Jardine is a butchered jap pipe. Why would you want to take it off when selling the bike anyway? The factory could care less whats on the bike as far as an exhuast system goes.}

Buelltrol,
There's just not enough room to fit it all on the end....It would be really heavy on the end...I don't think it would be a good idea in my opinion....
