i tried several searchs and couldnt find it

I'm not sure where the post is at on the board, but it's not a hard task at all to swap from a low to standard suspension or vise versa. Use the manual. Get one if you don't have it.

Parts needed:
1) front forks (Qty. 2, 1 left and 1 right)
2) rear shock
3) side stand

Fran_dog & I swapped, he raised his SL & I lowered my R. The whole thing went rather smoothly, I think it took them right at 2.5 hours to complete the swap, 3 with lunch .

I have a set of front legs and a shock from a regular 2003 XB9S that I will be selling soon.

Good point. You'll have to address that. I believe the forks on the cg's are 41mm and your's ('05 XB9r)are 43mm.

Question: Will Ronlv need to change his upper and lower triple clamps? I'm not sure.

Is not the OD of the upper fork tubes the same for both 41 and 43 mm tubes? I'm sure that when I got my Helibars riser, it said it would fit all model years of XBRs...

Of course, I could be all wet, but I'd check if I were you...might be a non-issue.

Buell website + others state that the 2005 XB12S/cg retains the 41mm Showa forks from prior years' Low models, and it would make sense to use pre-existing 2003-2004 fork/internals stock rather than re-tool for a small number of 2005 Low/cg bikes.

I've just called my local Buell/H-D dealer and asked about a "conversion" from 2005-spec 43mm forks to Low, what parts are required, whether triple (lower and/or upper) needs to be changed. Supposed to get a call back today.

The Helibars statement supports other web claims that the XB triple tree uppers (and hence fork tube upper mount) have identical diameter throughout the XB model/year range.

My cheapo calipers say 54mm diameter for both the top and bottom triple of my Low forks (2003 model year), same for the extra set of regular length 41mm forks I've purchased (2004 model year).

Someone with access to the respective parts books should be able to confirm whether differences in 2005 regular vs. CG triples exist.

OK, just got the call back from dealer parts guy, who suggested I just buy the Low seat for the Lightning for my (actually, it's Ron's) 2005 XB9R Firebolt! Seems the Techs he asked say the conversion from 2005 XB9R to Low/cg version isn't possible.... they probably recommend purchasing a V-Rod or Hugger instead.

So much for local dealer knowledge. Appreciated the quick response, though.

Who's got access to the parts books? If the 2005 XB12S has a Low/cg version, then the same "cg" parts should be applicable to the 2005 XB9R. Only questions: (1) are there differences in fork tube diameters top & bottom? (2) what triple tree parts are required? (3) what am I missing?

Ron, let's get this figured out so we can do the trade if possible!

Obviously they don't know what their talking about .
I just installed xb9sl forks and shocks on my 04 xb12r , did it in like 2 hours no fuss EZ ..
The hardest part was securing the bike on a conventional bike jack , that alone took an hour
Believe it or not the side stand really isnt even an issue . The Bike leans over on the stand while parked like any normal bike , very stable .

the lower triple has diffrent part numbers, so i think we need to trade, forks, shock, lower triple and side stand
