Just riding along the other day (well, travelling pretty freakin' fast actually) when I caught up with a new-ish GSX-whatever. After a wildly exaggerated look in both mirrors (what is it with this elbow up-and-down thing ?) it was warp speed Mr.Sulu and away he went. So I drop a gear and we're off. He was freakin' fast into the corners but the Buell gained yards on the exits, so much so that I had to roll off a few times to avoid tailgating the bugger. It was a good dice, fast'n'safe but after about 15 miles he was toast and pulled over to wave me past. I was stoked to the max.

This is why I have a Buell.

Well, I caught up to a Hayabusa at a stoplight yesterday, and the guy accelerated away so fast it was surreal.

I met up with some guys yesterday and rode some twisties. I hadn't ridden with anyone this summer except one guy on a 600 that I drop every time I ride with him. These guys rode the usual 600 assortment except for one guy on a 'busa. The only guy that could come close to keeping up was the 'busa. He would lose a little in most corners but would catch me on the drive out of the corner. He was a pretty strong rider and I was pretty impressed that he was able to keep up on some very twisted roads. I am not the fastest rider, but my backroad skills have improved dramaticly this summer since moving to the Ozarks and it was nice to outrun people with more horsepower than my little firebolt and it put a huge smile on my face.

I passed a couple F4 Phantoms with my Dodge diesel pickup some time back. Those guys are pretty fast on afterburners, but i had a jump on them. yup, blew by 'em at full boost in 5th gear, just like they were standing still. course 5 minutes later they flew overhead at 600 knots, and i never saw them again.

I was up a the Dragon this weekend and had a new GSX_R 1000 with a very competent rider get tired of me riding his tail in every single turn. This guy was cutting the lanes to stay ahead and full on in what little straights there were, he waved me passed and a couple miles later we got caught up with some traffic. I pulled over and so did he, got a lot of compliments on my riding and the bike, come to find out he was the same guy on Duc from the day before that I blew by, who knew?

Last night I had a Busa pull up behind me at a light with this squiddly dude on it. I was taking a left onto a 1 mile cut-thru road to get home. He reved his engine to say "lets do this" I gave him the thumb up. This road starts out 1/4 miles straight, hard sweeper right, slight uphill, then straightens downhill into medium sweeper left going up hill. The road runs out 1/16 mile after that second sweeper. Anyways, light turns green I immediatly have the peg scraping thru the intersection and don't look back until I am going into the second sweeper...Busa boy hasn't gotton the the top of the hill from the first sweeper. I was thinkin this guy might not of wanted to race,,,until he displayed his squidlyness by pinning his throttle open at the last second as I was almost stopped behind the Jeep at the light in front of me. He obviously didn't know the road and almost became roadkill as he had to go into the oncoming lane and lock up his rear tire. He played it off pretty good as he did an illegal Uturn, paused to see what just embarrassed the s hit out of him as i was waving hello. He did have a nice helmet. I have no doubt that if we had switched bikes I would have smoked his chicken wings for him again. Nevertheless, I love humiliating others as the underdog.

The Xb out handles any of the Japanese 1000cc + sport bikes, I have left a few in the dust - but the road must be twisty, they have a lot more power than we do.
