If you have a 12 I can do the econo with dual tips....It's cheap and makes more power than stock and it's loud as he77, you even get to keep the valve operational, that's worth a few ponies there....

Buelltroll, I highly recommend giving Kevin a call. Posting is one thing but speaking to him is a completely different experience. Quite frankly if Kevin was selling deep fried turds I would consider a purchase. Hey Kevin can rig up a pipe for my lawn mower, I want that summitch to dig trenches in the yard! NUTS

They wont do the shootout because they know with all things being equal that the pipe wont stack up against the D&D.

There is no convincing anyone anything different than what they think is right, so it really isn't worth the trouble Crystal. Give your opinion and allow the people to say what they will. All that really matters is that the person asking the question gets some diverse suggestions. If everyone agreed on what to do to their Buells they would all look and sound exactly the same.

I wish I had a pipe so I could throw my 2 cents in, but I dont. Shortly I am going to order one from Opie, Ive heard nothing but good things about him. Then again, the same goes for kevin, however that pipe is just a bit out of my price range for right now. But after all the good things I hear about drummers, I really wish i could have one

Allright, I need to revise my prior statement about the Drummer making less overall power.
I dug up the dyno runs we did while comparing pipes. These were all tested on the same bike on the same day on the same dyno blah, blah, blah.
Overall results show the pipes are all in the same ballpark, so it's really a preference thing.
Pick a pipe and have fun! It's nice to have some choices
Sorry for the poor image quality, a decent image wouldn't fit the attachment limitations.

So am I correct in reading that you compared jardine using race ECM, drummer using Race ECM, and the stock pipe using the *stock* ECM, and only showed that tiny difference?

I am assuming of course, you did TPS reset, run it for a while to learn, etc. between comparisons?

Seems to me it is the old "law of diminishing return". Why spend all that money for what looks like around 1.5hp and a half pound foot of torque?

That's a good question Chad, but hop off that Yammie sometime and ride a stocker and kitted one back to back and you'll feel it.

Matty,
Any chance you can email the dynojet data files for the above runs to me? I can create a much cleaner easier to read plot and post it.

I disagree strongly with the "only showed that tiny difference" characterization. I see some very significant differences. The scale of the plot can make a big difference; for instance, at 2,800 RPM the Drummer and Stock configurations are making around 20% more power than the Jardine. That is a major difference.

Conversely at around 4,400 RPM the Jardine is making around 8% more power than the stock or Drummer configurations.

I've said it before and will say it again I'm sure, no one single exhaust sytem can do it all.

We will be testing these mufflers in our BadWeB XB12 muffler dyno shootout. : )

Well I guess "tiny difference" is indeed subjective.

I bet if drummer could control/modify when the valve did what with an ECM change, the results could more closely track the Jardine through the midrange, and still keep the low end.

It is frustrating to constantly see conflicting dynos with dramatically different results when comparing the same configurations.

This particular dyno certainly begs respect for the stock configuration, especially given that they have to meet emissions...

Yes, they did an exceedingly good job with the stock setup.

That said, there are gains and better sound to be had by many pipes.

Peak power is a useless number. The numbers in the rev range you actually USE are what's important. If you cruise the street a lot and ride like I do, then your main goal will be to get a pipe that makes good power from 2500-5000. If you're on a tigh canyon road, that moves up to about 3700-5700. If you're on a racetrack, that moves up to about 4000-6500.

That chart seem to indicate that the Jardine will be the pipe to get for the tight canyons that "I" ride, BUT... There's NO WAY I'm sacrificing that much on the bottom.

Also, keep in mind that the dyno run in the pic is on a nine (I think) and the curves will look different on a 12.

I'm doubtful that a 9 was getting 90+ hp and 75+ torque. I'm guessing a 12.

Let's bet a free badweb post on it. Matty?
