gotta say .. totally changes the beast .. smoother gear changes (strangely) & very loud .. also, small lag at full throttle, followed by savage acceleration & lifting front wheel w/ a touch of evil ; ) headshake .. gotta love it!!

just extended its shelf-life & has me committed to eventually race modifying it .. bigger bores, shorter stroke, lightened flywheel & stuff & longer swingarm ..

facking sweet!

The kit did almost the same thing for me. But I'm going to wait on the head work until I've run the thing ragged.

Why a longer swingarm?

oh .. its a no rush on the mods .. the longer swing arm for a little more stability .. talking pro thunder - or 2006 bikes - specs .. a couple of inches max.

i'm looking at MMI next year, so all things will eventually get done .. my personal goal is to make a nice little trackbike out of it.

must say tho .. wound it up to 220kmh last night & it felt less stable & i am guessing some top end is lost for the low end acceleration?!

for anyone still no convinced tho .. racekit makes it accelerate very quickly through the revs .. seems like it needs another 4000 rpm for each gear ..

also noticed, very hard starting this morning .. took 4 or 5 attempts to get it ticking - tho i live at altitude.

i am also guessing gas consumption is gonna take a hit?!

the race kit will give you more top end (> 3800 rpm) while taking away from the bottom. did you reset your tps? it will make a huge difference if not.

i've never recorded my gas consumption, but i didn't notice any difference in my tank range after the race kit (~115 miles).

i too used to think about a longer swingarm until i got an steering damper. give that a shot. it's a much cheaper solution and makes the bike feel much more planted, imho.

Did you install the kit yourself, and did you reset the TPS? If you didn't reset the TPS this could be the cause of the hard starts. I noticed on my XB9R that I was able to pull the front end off the ground easier shifting into second than I could before.

I have read that the gas consumption does go up alittle bit but its not as bad as you would think

I too finally got the rest of the race kit installed in my 9R last night (ECM & Filter)after having the race pipe since spring. This allowed me to put in my open air box kit and remove the snorkel without running lean. I've also got the breather tubes re-routed. I'm really happy with the performance...I can actually do power wheelies now...no fork compression required. Power seems to be unchanged up to about 4000rpm...but then it really comes on!
