Author Message   Sped214 Posted on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 - 12:00 pm:        I had a knocking noise, and it was suggested that I adjust my primary chain, which I did. The knocking noise was reduced significantly. My question is this: Per the service manual, it just says to tighten to a measurement of 3/8 - 1/2" vertical free play cold which I did. It doesn't state how exactly to determine that free play. When you guys are adjusting, how much force do you put on your chain? Should I use something to pry it either way to determine to absolute free play, or just use my fingers? Any help would be appreciated. I don't want it too tight, but I also don't want the knocking noise.   Cruisin Posted on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 - 12:06 pm:        Just use your fingers to push up and down on the chain.
