Been riding my new (for me) 04 XB9S for a week now. Been cooler and rainy most of the week, good thing the weekend was stellar. Need some info on setting up the front and rear suspension to suit a little more aggressive riding and my 270 lbs. The rear shock is on the second click only. Should I get my genuine Buell shock wrench and put a snipe on it and crank it up a bit? I tried just by hand and it wasn't budging, A handful of front brake also allows for some seriously spongy slop in the front end. The couple of small wheelies I have tried have not inspired me to loft the front tire as I don't want it to prang when I land it. Any and all info is appreciated here or same nic at yahoo.

u need to set your suspension to stock-ish:
R preload 6 maybe 7
R compression fully clockwise then 3/4 to 1 turn anticlockwise
R rebound fully clockwise then 1/2 to 3/4 turn anticlockwise (maybe less - it does make a difference)
F preload 3 lines showing, maybe 2
F compression 1 turn out
F rebound 1 turn out (comments as per R rebound)
If you have std Dunlops fit something (anything) else (Mich Pilot Power, Pirelli Diablo)
Enjoy !

Yeah, I'd set the suspension to the factory settings. They really work well.

For tires, I like the Metzelers my self.

I was riding on the settings recommended in the users manual for about a year. then I set up the bike using these settings

It was like riding a whole different bike. I could kick myself for riding it set up the other way for so long.

Thanks again for the help. The front is down to 2.5 rings and the rear is jacked to support my weight. Wholly merde what a difference!. Now to play with the fine tuning a little. Going to go search the board for air cleaner tips. Thanks!

Oh... btw, picked up a nail in the back tire so have gone to a 180 upgrade and a better sport tire.
