Since Buell hasn't done this yet, has anybody though about buying a Lightning long and then putting the Firebolt wiring harness, fairing, fairing support bracket, seat and rear plastic on to create a Firebolt Long??

Wonder how much it would cost?

Yeah, but no shorter than on the race bikes in my opinion. I would think the extra couple of inches would be just the ticket on a with a really built engine and the slightly relaxed geometry might be just the ticket for higher track speeds. Throw in the chain conversion like Trojan sells.... Hmmmm. I probably won't do it, but maybe someone wanting more fuel capacity and stability in a Firebolt would....

My latest roadblock, er... concern in doing this. Does anyone know if the R bars will interfere with the new tank, er...frame shape on the Xb12Ss and Ulysses? I originally wanted to take a Ulysses, put the Ss suspension on with an R nose and have a touring Firebolt. At this point I feel all that is too much crap (and may be next years 'easy' model) so I am thinking of just going with a XB12R and putting some REAL bags on it. I would love the extra fuel capacity the Xb12Ss and Ulysses frame has to offer, but I have told many people that for my next Buell I will need to have it in such a way that I can walk into any Buell dealer to get a replacement part. As inadequate as most Buell dealers are nowadays, how would you tell them 'Well the xxxxx is from a Firebolt, while the xxxxxxxx is from a Ulysses, and the xxx is from a Lightning'?
