Hey everyone I tried replacing the 90 degree fitting coming out of the oil filter assembly that goes into the "return oil line from oil cooler to crankcase" oil line. I had to do a little finagling (remove oil filter) to get the line out and a new one back in. When trying to replace the 90 degree fitting it hit the "oil pressure indicator switch" I called HD and they don't have the wrench to take it off and can't order it. I tried different sockets to see if they fit as that would be the easiest way I think to get it off. Now I am thinking I am going to have to "rotate the engine down" just so that I can get the exhaust header pipes off in order to get a wrench in there to get this switch off. Does anyone have an easy way to get the oil pressure indicator switch off? Any help would be appreciated.

Sik, I had a small oil leak months ago and thought it was the switch, it ended up not being the problem but when I bought another switch at my local h/d dealer it had different size wrench flats. All that said;I went up to the local auto parts store and got a oil pressure switch socket and that's what I used. I still had the package hanging on the wall. It's a Lisle, 13200, for all 1: and 1 1/16 switches except for late model Chryslet V6...About 8 or 10 bucks... I think I got mine at O'Reillys...

I got it fixed finally. The problem was I have a bunch of tools but all of my sockets are 12 pt and when I tried to turn the switch the socket just rotated around it. I went to autozone and got one of their model 1 and 1/16" longwell 6 pt socket and it took it right off. The problem with the leak was actually the 90' fitting. I put some teflon paste on there and all is now well. Well atleast until I let it cure and start it up sometime tomorrow. I'm not really sure what the cure time for that stuff is. I would guess 24 hours? I'll probably start it before then depending on how it looks. Thanks for the help Kevin.

Must be a 12R thing, mine did the same. Make sure on your next oil change you or your dealer checks that 90* fitting. My oil pump was cracked and my local Dealer (Joplin, MO) had to lie to a shop in Californy to get a new pump.

I don't have access to the shop manual right now. Where is the crack that you had on the oil pump and where did the leak manifest itself? Thanks.
