You'll get better mileage with the race ecm.

Really? i figured the race ecm would be adding more fuel, hence a lower MPG

That is great fuel mileage. I have owned several Jap bikes that were Vs and about 32mpg was it.

When you defeat the EPA, by adding performance parts, and your bike is in tune, you actually are making the bike run more efficiently. Therefore better gas mileage and more HP&Toruqe. That is of course you're not getting big bore cylinders, head work, cams and the like.

with race ecm i am down to 50 mpg on my XB12. in REAL fast company, i have had it dip down to 48 mpg, but we were at serious risk of velocity induced jail time, so fuel economy was not a legitimate issue.

I didnt want to post a new thread for this but I have a general question. Roughly how many miles can you get out of a 12R once the gas light goes on? I dont know why the owners manual says the Fuel meter starts to count the miles once your low, wouldnt it make more sense to offer an average # of how many miles are possible on the current tank of gas and start counting DOWN from there?

Before the ECM I was getting 50+ with just a K&N and pipe. Now lucky to get 50....more like 45. This is in town with highway speeds.

hi cityx. after 2 weeks of running a race ecu with good 70 + blasts 40 to 45 max. lots more rich smells. puffs of smoke when rev'ed hard. low revs lumpy when reved. no back firing when over4000 revs when slowing down. good sign .made to go now and not to dither around.

I only can second Glitch's statement. I have a 12R and before putting the open air filter and aftermarket exhaust with the TFI on the bike, I got around 120 miles before the fuel light signaled to find a gas station, now after the mods I get around 145 miles (same driving). My longest run with the light on was 15 miles and I put 3 gallons in the bike.
