So I crashed my bike a month ago. Damage not too bad (all relative), but what's been irking me, is that the bolts that attach the seat housing to the frame are stronger that the 'nub' on the frame.

So instead of just buying new bolts with my new seat and rail, I need to get a new nub welded on, and re-threaded. This is the only real damage to a non-bolt on part, and I just wish that the point of attachment to the frame was stronger than the rails.

It could be designed that way to prevent gas leaks. Or so I've been told.

It is ment to break away in case of an impact that could cause enough damage to rupture the tank.

Pics of the actual damage would be nice if you could so it would be appreciated.

Yeah, I knew as I posted that pics would be helpful. But my bikes in anothers garage waiting for repair (my welder),

As far as whether it is supposed to break, It seems like it would make more sense to have the other piece (seat undercarriage or side rails) break instead. This way the bolt stays attached to the frame, instead of still attached to the side rails.

Oh well, my buddy's a welder so it won't cost much, I just want it to look as stock as possible.

I had the same thing happen to my frame. The frame boss where the seat rail bolts to cracked. It cracked on top. 90 degrees from the frame. It didn't snap off.

Mine actually broke in half. So the nub is actually still there, but where the bolt threads is what broke in half.
