Can one of you with the Select seat measure and report ground clearance with it installed? Please note where you are measuring so I can compare. I have a "standard" XB seat on my CityX, which, with its built-in scooped area, was a little lower than the standard CityX seat. Required for this inseam-challanged owner.
Thanks.

Eric....I don't know the exact height but it will be a little taller than the standard XBS seat. I should have mine next week and will measure for you with pics. How vertically challenged are you? I'm 5'9" with my boots on.

I can't measure it till tomorrow evening when she's off the stands.
I'll probably just throw a level on her and measure the unladden height. Just remember that my bike is a cg (low) so what ever height I get it will be about .8" lower than on the standard S.
It's also a tad wider so it spreads the legs a little more than the stock seat.

Plsdks,
The strap notches arn't from the strap compressing the seat. They are formed into the plastic seat pan.

Hmm, looks good. I have the low seat on my SX, I like the seat height, but it is quite hard. If the Select isn't much higher, I might want one.

Black Sunshine - I'm 5'7" 1/2 with the boots on....and, of course, it is actually the height and width at the front that is the biggest concern for me. I dont care how tall it is once I'm sitting on it, its getting my legs to reach the ground that is the issue..........

Two thumbs up for the tires & the seat.

The Select seat is a big improvement over the Low seat.

It fit perfect on the bike as it should since it's the same seat pan as the others. It doesn't slide, wiggle or anything that it's not supposed to.

I'm about 5'8 with my boots on with a 30" inseam. With the low seat I can flat foot it with lots of bend in my knees. With the Select I can just flat foot it the same way I can just flat foot a standard S with stock regular height seat so the select is definitely taller than the standard seat. I'm gonna say about 3/4 inch taller than a standard S. I threw a level over the lowest part of the seat & held the bike level & I got 31.5 inches. Please keep in mind that this is on a 12Scg with the suspension preload set up for a 180 lbs rider & sporting new Scorpion tires. It's a lot lower once you sit on it and the springs compress & the seat squishes down a bit. I figure on a standard S set the same way it would probably be about 32.25 inches. If I had a helper to sit on the bike for me I would have measured it compressed under rider's weight like Buell does but no dice.

It's very roomy allowing me to slide around. It is firm without being hard. It is soft without being squishy. I hope that makes sense : )
The extra bit of height puts my wrists at a much better angle to the bars. Whatever slight wrist strain I once got is now non existant. The legs arn't as pretzeled under me anymore which is something I'm gonna have to get used to. I kinda liked how they were tucked in tight with the low seat. I'll give it a couple months to get used to it. If by then I don't like it I'll just get some Firebolt pegs & that'll solve that.
I only put about 20 miles on her & I was being really mellow (new rubber) but the little bumps & ripples that used to make me cringe arn't so bad anymore. When I get bucked up off the seat on this one nasty road I ride the landing is so much nicer : ) I'm pretty confident that I could put in a long day of riding on this seat.

Metal - thanks for the details. Sounds iffy for me, but I think the best bet will be for me to find a dealer with one that I can put on my bike in their parking lot and try for myself...it sounds that close.

hey metalstorm

from the looks of your comparative seat pics, end to end on the back to the truck, the select looks a good 2 inches taller than the low Scg seat.

BTW, nice truck.

The truck is a 46' Ford. It belongs to my Dad but I get to borrow it every once in a while. : )

The seat has broken in a little. At a stop I now flat foot it with a slight bend to my knees. (30" inseam, 12cg)

I have yet to see a Skyline seat but I've been staring at photos of the legendary 9SX & I seriously doubt that the Select is taller than the Skyline. It might be the same, it might be a little less but I'd be surprised to find out that the Select is taller. I think anyone who rides a CityX with the stock Skyline seat will have no problem with the Select. Anyone with a 9L or 12cg with a 29" inseam or higher shouldn't have much of a problem either.

This is a great post!

I was wondering if anyone had direct comparison of streetfighter to select seat?

I'm a newbie (12xbS and 1st bike ever) and I find the stock seat a little rough after about 45 mins, so with this post I'm on the fence.

I'd actually like a taller seat, though I think I might like comfort over that.

How is the passenger part compaired to a low seat? I dont ride one often but when I do she doesn't like to ride too far at a time due to almost nonexistant padding.

There is a lot of good discussion about the XB**S seats, but I don't see any mention of the option seat available for the XB**R. Has anyone ridden/sat on it and has an opinion on it? I would love to hear it. Thanks.

I can't answer any questions about passenger comfort. At least not for the time being anyway. It looks to be much better than the low seat. It's alot thicker. The passenger pillion of the low seat was pretty flat & as comfortable as a board so I'm told.

So, is the Select seat the most comfortable? I know the Low is the least; 600+ miles last weekend (120 at a time), and my butt is still sore!
BTW, thanks for all of the great comparison words/pics!
