Just bought a 04 xb12r with K&N filter and race ecm. But without having aftermarket exhaust, does the race ecm control the exhaust valve? and if it doesn't, would it be best to lock the valve open or closed? My plan is to put aftermarket exhaust on when I get the funds, but in the mean time I want to have the best performance. |

The race ECM doesnt control the valve. I had the same situation and I locked mine open using zip ties. |

I think hill-billy motors has dyno's both ways. Take a look there and choose your curve . |

Thanks for the info. I locked it open w/ a zip tie. didn't notice much in power, but the sound is much louder. I like it! |

your handle pretty well sums it up, when it comes to big black steel bus muffler/skidplate combinations, WFO is best. the VALVE IS FOR NOISE CONTROL. it makes the bike quiet when tested for EPA noise compliance at 3400 rpm. |

Is the valve closed during the mid-range power rpms? where did you tie it open? at the valve on the pipe or with the cable on the airbox? |
