well today, I had to park in front of my store. no spaces were available anywhere (busy weekend) so I just put it right on the sidewalk hoping no tards will touch. It worked for today.
guess in the long run its really just a compliment.

I've not ever had anyone sit on my bike without asking that I know of. I can't believe ANYONE would do such a thing. I would be absolutely irate if someone did that with any of my bikes.

I ask at the dealerships if I can sit on a bike.

Even touching someones bike without permission is just WRONG!

If you see a nice car, do you open the door and try to sit in it, sheeze.

I fitted a loud alarm for a start. For when I am not around.
If you punch somone off your bike (as they are already on it) make sure you grab a grip or something to stop the bike falling over.
I also beleve that you are perfectly entitled to kick the living dung out of them as "he is a bike theif and was trying to steel my bike, officer."
Very disrespetfull, I don't like it at all.

about 8 years ago, i was in the easyrider store here in columbus about, and when i cane out, a woman was looking at my sporty, and commenting on the forward controls that I had on it, and then proceeded to tell me that she didn't like them because they were too far forward for her short legs....come to find out that she was sitting on it while is was in the store....didn't know her, and being that she was in her 40's, should've known better....

"he is a bike theif and was trying to steal my bike, officer."

That is great!
Can I use it if the occasion ever arises?

Respect other peoples stuff. I don't touch there stuff without permission, please don't touch mine. If you ask no problem, won't even get made if you scratch it, so long as you have permission.

I would never even think about climbing onto someone elses bike without asking. That is just not done. When I am looking at either cars or bikes, say at a show,I put my hands in my back pockets.I may have my face about a foot away from the thing, but I never touch it.How bad are you gonna feel if you marked it up somehow?

To my way of thinking, climbing onto somebody else's bike is the modern equivalent of sitting on somebody else's horse. You just don't do that, unless of course you want to get pulled bodily out of the saddle.

A while back someone started a thread about have you come out of your work or a bar or whatever and found someone on your bike? Much to my surprise quite a few folks had. One guy came out of a bar to find a guy sitting on his Duc 916 (back when they were new) well he yelled at the guy, who promptly got off it, but the automatic sidestand had retracted so it slammed to the asphalt! He put a beat down on the guy, vandalized his bike see. Another guy came out of work and found a goth punk and his girlfriend both on his bike. The girl was sitting on the tank facing her boyfriend sitting on the bike. The boyfriend had both hands under her scratching the tank becaues he had a ring on each finger. So they guy pretends to be friendly and talks the guy off the bike and puts a beat down on him. SO the cop shows up and says yeah I see where he scratched up your bike, vandalized it but I gotta take you in for assult(sp). Many people are just plain stupid.

How to avoid assault charges:

Do not run a rear license plate on your bike! I have mine sitting on a shelf at home where it has lived for about a year. Bike is legal and insured. no one can get your number as you ride your newly scracthed/dented bike away.

Here is another bonus for running around with no plate. A lot of officers expect you to run when the lights go on. They are extra sure you are not a bad guy when you pull over promptly.

Also most officers call in every stop they make. All stops are logged and with to many stops and not enough tickets written they may get a bad "recap" at the end of the month.

When asked where my plate is I always say "Damm HARLEY vibrates like crazy and I did not even notice it fell off. A no plate ticket here in Cali is a $35.00 fix it ticket. Most cops will write the fix it ticket and warn the speeding. Why? Because unless you are an A-hole most cops are pretty decent folks.

Since you mentioned it, I came out from a mall one night to a middle aged guy sitting on my BMW. Said he used to ride a Toaster and loved the new style. He was wearing a denim jacket and left two scratches on the matte black paint with those damn metal buttons! I yelled at him but the mall security guard showed up before anything happened. Now I just color in the scratches with a Sharpie each time I wash the bike and cuss to myself a little. What a pisser!

I stopped at a gas station yesterday, so my buddy could gas up--then parked my bike out of the way so I could move my buddie's bike (he was inside paying), to allow a truck access to the pumps. As I'm putting my friend's bike on it's stand, several young guys gathered around my bike, gawking--one of 'em started picking at the "American Motorcycles" logo on the airbox cover. Now, I'm right behind them while they're doing this, in full leathers and helmet, but I guess they figured the bike I had moved was mine, so the unattended Buell was fair game...until I walked up and swung a leg over.

Anyways, no harm done, no problems, but some people are too bold. There's a current thread on a local sportbike site about exactly this issue (people getting on unattended bikes, knocking them over, etc).

Sky Guy, gotta disagree with you on most cops being decent, but it might be a regional thing. I live in Reno and the cops are total a$$holes. One had my wife's car towed because we hadn't registered it in Nevada yet when we moved here. I guess there's a reason they made a show about the Reno police.

Just ask them what they'd do if they came home and found you sitting in their living room testing out the remote control of their television set. Not taking anything, just sitting there watching TV.

I'll go one step further than that. What would they do if they came home and found you astride their wife? Different, you say? Maybe, but not by much.
